Today is Day 1b of Event 2, a $200 + $20 No Limit Hold’em Deepstack Re-entry event. This is the final opening day for this event, and already 430 players have taken their seats to try and qualify for Day 2 on Sunday along with the 56 players who qualified yesterday.
Players should note a slight change in the schedule today. Instead of playing 16 levels as published in the Structure and Rules for Event 2, players today will play through 15 levels as they did yesterday in Day 1a.
Good luck to everyone playing today!

Day 1a has come to a close and the players are bagging up their chips – everyone remaining in the tournament will come back on Sunday at 12pm for Day 2. We’ll have chip counts for the day in a little while.
Day 1b will start at 12pm tomorrow, and considering it’s a Saturday we’re expecting a lot of players to jump into the event.
The players in Day 1a of Event 2 have entered their final break of the day. By the way, they were scheduled to play 16 levels today but the Tournament Director has decided that they will stop after just 15 levels, meaning that there is just one level to play today after this break.
We are half way through level 14 here on Day 1a of Event 2, which means that players will be going on break until Day 2 within the hour and a half.
Here are some photos from level 13:
Players are in the last level before the final break of the day, and some of the chip leaders have remained among the leaders – Antony M, Sean Balfour – but some new players have begun to grow big stacks to challenge the leaders from earlier in the day. Miguel Goncalo, Jose Pereira, Andrew Graham and David Dusone are all playing over 120K at this point in the evening.
During the break we got a better look at some of the stacks in play. Only two players have breached the 100K mark so far but there are several others following closely behind. Here are the top 6 to this point:
The second break is approaching which will mark the half way point of today’s action. Doing a quick tour of the room we noticed a few players approaching 100K stacks, including:
We’ll look for some other big stacks during the break and post some photos soon.
