  • Jean-Pierre opened UTG+1 for 50K and Chris went all in with his remaining 54K. Ricky flatted from the button, and Jean-Pierre called the extra 4K. The flop was 6 of Clubs 7 of Spades 8 of Spades. Jean-Pierre led out 5oK which encouraged Ricky to fold. Jean-Pierre turned over Ace of Hearts King of Clubs while Chris held Ace of Spades Jack of Diamonds. The turn was Queen of Hearts and the 3 of Hearts on the river kept Jean-Pierre in the lead and Chris was given his cash coupon for a trip to the cage.

  • Tanveer was the chip leader for much of the tournament, but chipped down quite a bit towards the end of Day 2 and couldn’t make a comeback today. Just a few minutes after his neighbour in Seat 10 was eliminated, Tanveer followed him to the cashier to get paid.

    Tanveer’s final hand:

Benoit raised to 51K from middle position, and Tanveer reraised to 113K. Benoit responded by shoving and Tanveer called for his tournament life.

The cards – Tanveer: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds Benoit: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Spades

The board ran out 9 of Clubs Jack of Hearts 10 of Spades 4 of Clubs 3 of Spades and Benoit’s Jacks (barely) held on.

    9th place: Tanveer Dhanjal, $6,730

  • Ricky Tang finally arrived and just a few minutes later eliminated Terence Lai in 10th place.

Ricky open raised to 55K in the hijack. It folded to Terence in the SB who shoved his short stack. The BB folded and Ricky quickly called, showing 10 of Hearts 10 of Spades. Terence was playing Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts.

The flop of :9 of Hearts Ace of Spades 4 of Diamonds put Terence in the lead but the 10 of Diamonds on the turn moved Ricky far into the lead and the 6 of Clubs on the river spelled the end of Terence’s day.

    10th place: Terence Lai, $4,900

  • On just the second hand played between the 9 players seated (more about that below) we had an all-in and a call.

Michael Neuber made a small opening raise from the hijack and Jean-Pierre Hetu 3-bet from the button to 110K. Michael 4-bet jammed and Jean-Pierre quickly called.

Michael was holding King of Hearts King of Clubs and Jean-Pierre held Ace of Spades King of Spades and Michael’s Kings held up on a board of 7 of Clubs Queen of Spades 6 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds Jack of Hearts for a full double up.

There’s another element to this final table that is a bit of a mystery at this point. Ricky Tang, a player who has enjoyed a lot of success here at Playground Poker Club in the past and is a regular guest from the Toronto area during big events here has not yet arrived at the club to take his seat. He started the day with the 3rd best chip count at the table, but with blinds at 10K/20K/a3K he can lose a big chunk of his stack relatively quickly. More news on this story as we learn it…

Event 7’s Final Table is set to go

  • The final table of Event 7 – $1000 + $100 No Limit Hold’em Deepstack is set to go. It was slated to start at 3 but there was a short delay to adjust the cameras that survey the action and ensure that there’s a backup in the case of any controversy.

The final table itself is sitting in the middle of the stage at the far end of the Tournament Hall, and impressive location for what should prove to be an interesting final table.

We’ll be updating the Payout table as players are eliminated from the event and at the end we’ll use the results to update the MVP Standings – this event is sure to have a big impact!
