At 12:00pm today, the 26 players who qualified for Day 2 in the $10,000 + $300 MILLIONS High Roller event will take their seats to resume play in this massive tournament. The players will begin the day spread across 4 tables in the Tournament Hall, but as an 8-Max event, the field will balance down to 3 tables after just two eliminations. Later on the agenda will be a full redraw at 16 players remaining, and again when the final table is put together with 9 players remaining. All of this is on tap for today, as this is a 2-day tournament that will play down to a winner.
Today’s action will also be live streamed from the get-go – meaning that starting at 12:30pm (to account for the 30 minute security delay), you’ll be able to follow all of the action on the feature table via My partypoker Live or right here on the Live page of the Playground Event Blog.
The chip leader to start the day is poker superstar Darren Elias, a player who has the distinction of having scored a 6-figure payday in a $10K event here in 2014 along with the massive success he has had all over the world during the past decade. Elias is followed on the leaderboard by Marc MacDonnell from Ireland and David Eldridge, visiting from the US. Those 3 are the only players with stacks greater than 6M in chips.
Their lead, however, is far from insurmountable, and to call the remaining field “strong” is a massive understatement. 6th on the leaderboard, for instance, with 5,285,000 chips is Chris Moorman, a player who is widely known as the greatest online tournament player of all time – and though he isn’t known for live play, nevertheless has amassed over $5.3M in lifetime earnings. Not bad for one’s “sideline” pursuit! Also in the field are superstars like Anthony Zinno, Viktor Blom, Michael Watson, Kristen Bicknell, and Martin Jacobson, to name but a few.
There are also some players still in who may enjoy a little home-table advantage – players like Sam Chartier, Ami Alibay, Shaan Siddiqui, and Louis Boutin have all had significant recent scored in Playground-hosted events – in the case of the first 3, in $10K events, while Boutin was 4th in the 2017 MILLIONS Main Event.
Action gets underway in just over 40 minutes with the live stream following at 12:30pm EDT. Good luck to all of the remaining players!
