Antonio Esfandiari is running hot. Just ask Jeosafat Alejandro Cruz.

Cruz was recently eliminated from the Main Event by Esfandiari, after the magician found a way to improve his flopped top pair to overtake Cruz’s flopped set. Esfandiari held King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds, up against Cruz’s 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts, on a flop of 6 of Spades Queen of Spades 3 of Hearts. The turn brought the Queen of Hearts, and the 3 of Clubs followed right after, giving Esfandiari the bigger boat and sending the Cruz to the rail. Esfandiari has only added to his huge stack since the last break and will likely emerge as one of the chip leaders when the day is done.
