Charles La Boissonnière has had a tremendous amount of success at Playground Poker Club in the past – particularly in the past two years of the World Cup of Cards – but his 5th place result in this MILLIONS Main Event is by far his largest event cash to date – and well deserved, judging by his play and the commentary on the live streams.
The tournament had been stuck at 5 players remaining for some time – more than a level – and Charles had been getting a little frisky, raising all-in twice or even three hands in a row to pick up well-needed chips, but generally playing solid poker and doing so in very reasonable spots. The hand that sealed his fate was yet another in this genre – although the result would be very different.
The hand started out differently as Markus Prinz limped from utg – perhaps the first time he had limped today. Next to act was Charles, who raised all-in holding . Action folded around to Anthony Ruberto, who held and moved all-in for more behind Charles. Markus folded and Charles was at risk for his final 147M chips.
Flop: for a gutter and back door flush draws. The turn was a and the turn was the and that was the end of the road for Charles in the MILLIONS ME.
5th place: Charles La Boissonnière, $600,000
