Jonathan Duhamel was on his second bullet in the first stint of the High Roller Event, and in a pre-flop war with Marc Macdonnall. The bets escalated before the first community cards were revealed. 3-bet, 4-bet, 5-bet, and when the dust settled, they were both all-in and waiting for the dealer to seal their fate.

Duhamel: Ace of Spades King of Clubs
Macdonnall: Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs

Board: 3 of Spades 5 of Spades 9 of Spades 9 of Clubs 5 of Hearts

Macdonnall’s ladies held up, and Duhamel was so denied a first break. He is now in the MILLIONS Open arena, looking for a way to redeem himself.

Play is entering level 2, and players are coming in at a reasonable pace. Twenty-seven entries have taken place, including two re-entries.

These players have not lost any time to show fangs. Jonathan Duhamel is one of the early casualties, but he jumped right back in and chance placed him on the same table, allowing him to try to get his chips back from Brian Yoon.

Event #2 of the MILLIONS North America is seeing its first cards, with 12 players at the tables. Registration will remain open until the end of level 9, leaving plenty of time for all of our High Rollers to make their way into the event.

The buy-in for this event is $10,000 and there is a $1,000,000 guarantee on the line. The tournament director is making the introductory announcements. He just uttered the magical words: ”Cards are in the air!”, and the dealers are now mixing the cards for the first hand of the MILLIONS North America.

Play will continue through twelve 40-minute levels. Good luck all!

    The MILLIONS has arrived!

    2018/04/21 - 10:58 by

After months of anticipation and preparation, the MILLIONS North America is ready to begin! The action in the first two full Events in the MILLIONS North America will begin today at 12:00pm.

Today’s events are Event #1, the $1,000 + $100 MILLIONS Open Day 1A and Event #2, the $10,000 + $300 MILLIONS High Roller Day 1. Both tournaments feature a $1,000,000 Guaranteed prize pool.

This is the first of two Day 1s in the MILLIONS Open, and players are permitted 1 entry and 1 re-entry on each Day 1. The registration period on each Day 1 continues through the end of the break following level 9, so players have until 6:45pm to enter (and possibly re-enter). Blinds in the event will increase every 40 minutes and there will be 15-minute breaks following every 3rd level of play.

Satellites have been running for the MILLIONS Open since Wednesday, and the demand has been incredible – there were a total of 60 seats in the event guaranteed but satellite buy-ins more than doubled that figure – 130 seats were actually awarded! This is a clear indication that this is going to be a very popular tournament – players would be well-advised to make their way to Playground Poker Club without delay to avoid lineups at the cashier and other such delays.

The structure of the High Roller is similar, but with a single Day 1 – and of course a much meatier buy-in! Event #2 also permits players an entry and a re-entry, any time on Day 1 through to the end of the break following level 9 – i.e., until 6:45pm.

Good luck to all players no matter which event you’re playing today!
