Players are now taking a 30-minute break to put some fuel in their body. Chips have been moving liberally lately, including inter alia a change in leadership. Victor Ramdin lost a few positions after finding his top-top in a hurt locker against a flopped set.

Isildur1 made some magic against Alibay. He did hit a miraculous river, but some story-tellers say that the result would have been the same even if he had not. He followed this up by playing a solid hand against David Eldridge. Both players had checked the flop in a 3-bet heads-up pot. David bet out 1.6M on the turn, and Isildur1 flatted. When both players missed their flush draw, David checked and Isildur1 proceeded to make the stunningly precise 3,2M bet into about 7M, or about half of his remaining stack.

Isildur1: Ace of Clubs 10 of Diamonds
Eldridge: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds

Board: 9 of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds 4 of Spades 3 of Clubs

Eldridge, who has been by far the steadiest player in Day 2, and in a really good way, suffered a rare loss, but it did not hurt him too much, while the pot was quite important for Isildur1, who went on to take down some more chips after that. Play resumes in about 20 minutes.

Viktor Blom, aka Isildur1, opened a pot with aces. Ami Alibay flat called from the button, and David Eldridge tagged along. What followed was the strangest line that rockets have ever seen. All three players checked the flop. On the turn, David and Isildur1 checked, and Alibay bet 700K with trips. David ran, and Isildur1 min-raised to 1.4M.

Alibay was visibly puzzled by the action. He called, waiting for the river. On the river, Isildur1 went all-in for a pot-size bet, about 5M. Alibay used 2 or 3 extension cards, and folded!

Isildur1: Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades
Alibay: Queen of Hearts 8 of Hearts

Board: 9 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs Ace of Diamonds!

Players ordered some food for the upcoming dinner break, and it is fun to imagine them watching the 30-minute delay stream together and wonder which was nicer: Isildur1’s river or Alibay’s fold!

    Vanfleet doubles up

Jonathan Vanfleet, after flopping a set of sixes, doubled up on Victor Ramdin, who had flopped a ten with his Ace of Hearts 10 of Hearts. These two have been pretty active and showing a rather wide range, so it was not surprising to see an escalation of bets leading to an all-in for a 15M pot.

During this hand, Isildur went away from the table. Exactly 30 minutes before, he had made a really tough fold with the Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts over pair. Realizing that he had been bluffed by Vanfleet, he came back to the table a little stunned, looking intensely at Vanfleet while he was stacking his newly found fortune.

Seven finalists are still in contention for the $300,000 first prize. Victor Ramdin leads with 23M and David Eldridge, whose stack has been steadily increasing since Day 1, follows with over 18M.

Moorman’s comeback comes to a halt

Parker Talbot 3bet Kevin Eldridge to 1.5M, and Christopher Moorman, who had gotten some life back from a 300K stack, committed his 1,250,000 stack. Talbot joked that he would rather give up a pinky then see Moorman double up again.

Talbot: Queen of Hearts Queen of Clubs
Moorman: 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts

Moorman failed to hit a 6, and went out in 8th place, good for $35,000. Good job!

When Kevin Hobbs raised with 10 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds, Ami Alibay flat called, and David Eldridge did the same. Christopher Moorman, feeling like he was in a great spot to add a million to his 3,8M stack, pushed all-in.

Little did he know, Ami had flatted with a monster! He is the only one who called, and they opened:

Ami: Queen of Diamonds Queen of Spades
Chris: 10 of Hearts 8 of Hearts

Board: Ace of Spades 6 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds

Moorman only has a few chips left, but players are now taking a short break while the tournament director chips up the finalists. Moorman, after the break, will try to do as Ami Alibay did on Day 1: come back from a cripled stack. Alibay had one 35K big blind left when he lauched a comeback, saving $10K in the process (he was about to reload).
