The second segment is done and gone, and Darren Elias have managed to make his way to the top. Brian Yoon have suffered a rough patch, dropping from his previous almost 4M stack to about 2M.

Our current top 3 is made up of Darren Elias, Marc Mcdonnell and Christopher Kruk, who all have a little over 3M in chips.

There are only 3 levels left to the late registration period. When play resumes after the next break, the counter will be closed and we will know the final participation numbers. At this point, 67 entries were put in and 33 are needed to meet the amazing $1,000,000 guarantee boasted by Event 2.

Here are the leading stacks after 6 levels of play:

When Hamidreza Kamali placed an initial raise, Riyaz Abdulla 3bet to 145K, working with a short stack. Victor Ramdin decided it was worth it to isolate him, and put in 300K. Kamali folded and sure enough, Abdulla pushed his remaining chips.

Ramdin was all too happy to complete, but found that his monster was only in for a coin flip:

Abdulla: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs
Ramdin: Queen of Hearts Queen of Clubs

Board: 9 of Hearts 2 of Spades 3 of Spades 5 of Hearts 3 of Hearts

Failing to hit a pair, Abdulla left his seat. A break is coming very shortly, which will allow an udpated on the bigger stacks.

Some big-league players have made their way into the High Roller Event, including Montreal’s own Samuel Chartier and Shaan Siddiqui. These two rarely miss a big event at Playground, and it is a pleasure to welcome them again.

Also, the darling couple of poker have hit the High Roller tables. Kristen Bicknell and William Foxen are at the tables, having a meal and beginning their MILLIONS adventure. They both played in the MILLIONS Barcelona that concluded Season 2 of the MILLIONS, where they shared a 25K buy-in final table. Before that, they made a killing in Macau, where Foxen won a 50K Event for almost a million USD and Bicknell took down a 10K Event for almost 300K USD.

    Mike Sexton welcomes MILLIONS players

    2018/04/21 - 15:24 by

The Tournament Hall and the additional seating area have been filling up at a constant rate all day, and this is certain to continue as both of today’s tournaments allow entry and re-entry until the end of the break following level 9 – both events are about half way to that point.

Immediately following the first break, partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton took to the microphone to welcome all of the players to the MILLIONS North America, and on behalf of all players, he added some extremely kind words about Playground Poker Club, and in particular the fantastic dealer corps on staff here. Mike is no stranger to Playground, and for our part it’s wonderful to be able to continue our relationship in this way.

Here are a couple of shots of Mike (and the media scrum that surrounded him)

Three 40-minute levels have passed in the High Roller Event, and already some stacks are pushing upwards in a very noticeable fashion. It is especially the case on table 58, where Duhamel lost both possible bullets.

The first of his stacks went to Brian Yoon, who has since continued to grind at a fast pace. He was seen before the break taking down a big pot from Darren Elias after hitting a gutshot on the river, where his 535K bet was called. He is now comfortably leading Event #2 with almost 4 times the starting stack!

Marc Mcdonnall follows with 2,395,000, and is sitting 2 positions right of Yoon. We are now up to 47 entries, almost half of the guaranteed number, with 6 more levels to the registration period.

Here is our current top 5:

Jonathan Duhamel was on his second bullet in the first stint of the High Roller Event, and in a pre-flop war with Marc Macdonnall. The bets escalated before the first community cards were revealed. 3-bet, 4-bet, 5-bet, and when the dust settled, they were both all-in and waiting for the dealer to seal their fate.

Macdonnall: Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs

Macdonnall’s ladies held up, and Duhamel was so denied a first break. He is now in the MILLIONS Open arena, looking for a way to redeem himself.
