5 Deerfoot players through to Day 3

    2018/04/19 - 7:17 by

Our partners at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino ran the first Days 1 and 2 in the MILLIONS Main Event on Tuesday and Wednesday, and with those now complete, full attention shifts back to Playground Poker Club for the rest of the tournament.

Five players in Calgary managed to book their way into Day 3 (out of a total of 29 Day 1 and Day 2 entries), including Ashkan Razavi with an impressive 14.18M (89bb) in chips and Thomas Taylor, who accumulated over 6M (38bb) by the time level 17 came to an end. Click/Tap here for Full Day 2 Results.

Each of the 5 players has earned a $1,200 travel bonus (not taken from the prize pool) and will make their way to Montreal for Day 3. Meanwhile at Playground, attention focuses on Events #1, #2, and #3 – the Main Event (#4) will resume with Day 1A on Tuesday, April 24th.

Day 2 Deerfoot winds its way to a conclusion

    2018/04/18 - 22:02 by

Today at the Deerfoot Poker Room, Day 2 in the MILLIONS Main Event has been underway since 12:00pm MDT. That means the field – which grew to 29 total entries today – is now through almost 7 levels of play and the day should wrap up after two more levels.

We’ll be publishing end of Day 2 results here on the MILLIONS Event Blog, but in the meantime, Lyle Bateman has been contributing updates to Facebook. The most recent report came at the beginning of level 15, and there were still 8 players in the action:

    1. Thomas Taylor – 7,300,000
    2. Braden Hall – 5,860,000
    3. Ashkan Razavi – 5,150,000
    4. Brant Taylor – 4,500,000
    5. Ryan Godson – 1,755,000
    6. Robert Cheung – 1,625,000
    7. James Yang – 1,250,000
    8. Chris Clayton – 935,000

Here’s a great review of the action so far from one of the players still in:

The Main Event begins… at Deerfoot!

    2018/04/17 - 16:43 by

One of the innovative elements in the 2018 MILLIONS Main Event is the partnership with Calgary’s Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Not only did Deerfoot run several satellites for the $5,300 Main Event, they’re also hosting a Day 1 and Day 2 in the tournament.

Day 1 kicked off today at 12:00pm (MDT) and will continue through 8 levels today, just like any other Day 1 in the tournament. Of course all of the rules and structure are identical at Deerfoot to those in place for the rest of the Main Event at Playground, which means that late registration continues throughout Day 1 and will remain open through the first 4 levels of play on Day 2.

So far, there are 20 entries with 19 currently remaining at the tables. Today’s field includes at least 1 Player to Watch – Thomas “Sandy” Taylor. Taylor has been one of the more prolific satellite qualifiers in the event – today he is using the first of 4 seats he has secured to date.

Taylor is a true “pro’s pro” who has 2 WSOP Circuit rings in his trophy case along with results all over the world over the past several years, including a final table at Playground Poker Club in the 2016 WPT Spring Championship.

Here are some photos from the action today.
