    The final numbers!

    2018/04/29 - 17:09 by

With the close of Day 2B registration – which came with the end of the break after level 12 – there are no more opportunities left for new player to join or eliminated players to re-join the tournament. From here to the end, the MILLIONS Main Event is a freezeout event!

Here is a breakdown of the total number of entries in the tournament:

    • Deerfoot Day 1 – 26 entries
    • Deerfoot Day 2 – 3 entries
    • Day 1A – 164 entries
    • Day 1B – 174 entries
    • Day 1C – 412 entries
    • Day 1D – 620 entries
    • Day 1E – 102 entries
    • Day 2A – 137 entries
    • Day 2B – 316 entries

This adds up to 1,954 entries – just a little over 2% shy of the guaranteed prize pool. Final prize pool information will be made available as soon as it’s available.

The late registration and re-entry period has closed on Day 2B of the Main Event.

The re-entries and buy-ins continued at a hectic pace all the way until the last minute of the break following level 12, driven by the popularity of the flip’n go’s. When the players returned to their seats, 587 entries were in the books for the day, and 264 players remained in contention. There are over 1 billion chips in play so there are sure to be some huge stacks moving forward to Day 3. Our current chip leader, Antonio Esfandiari, is playing more than three times the current chip average, but there are many players with 8-figure stacks so his lead is far from safe.

With the blinds at 30K/60K, Charles La Boissonniere opened the action to 125K. Ryan Smith made the call along with two others before the action got to Mathieu Boucher in the small blind. Boucher put in a three-bet to 455K, and La Boissoniere found the fold button. Ryan Smith then turned the tables by raising all-in for 2.3M. The raise and re-raise was enough to chase everyone else out of the pot and gave Boucher a difficult decision. Boucher spent a while in the tank before finally making the call with Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds. Smith triumphantly tabled Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades. The flop, 8 of Clubs 10 of Hearts King of Clubs, gave Boucher a ray of hope, and the Queen of Clubs turn helped even more, but the 2 of Diamonds river fell short, letting Smith take down the pot of over 5M in chips.

Charles La Boissonnière just won a big pot by calling a bluff.

Board: 8 of Clubs King of Diamonds 2 of Spades Ace of Hearts 9 of Clubs

When we got to the table, the entire board was already out and there was a decent amount of chips in the pot. La Boissonnière made a 200K bet and that’s when Nick-Real Seide tried to buy him out by raising to 900K. La Boissonnière made the call and Seide instantly mucked.
