Taylor Black leads the 9 finalists into Day 5

    2018/05/02 - 1:16 by Jôle Simard

Day 4 started with 51 players, and played down to just 9 finalists. Some of the biggest names in poker were at the tables, all battling for the huge final table payouts, including three 7-figure amounts.

Poker superstar Antonio Esfandiari played in Day 4, but for no longer than a few minutes. His short stack went in very early and lost a flip. Many very strong locals did their best to survive Day 4. Jason Duval was seen making a great river call with ace high. Lucas Drolet was enjoying a top stack for a while, but suffered a few brutal losses and did not make it. Ema Zajmovic, despite making an impressive comeback from less than one blind, also fell before the gong. Guillaume Nolet and Charles La Boissonnière will be representing the locals on Day 5.

It was a 12-hour day for our 9 finalists, and they now have less than 12 hours before play resumes on Day 5. Playing for such high prizes can be unnerving, and doing it for 12 hours exhausting. This is where physical form, good nutrition, and big-money experience become relevant. Some would say that Darryll Fish has the biggest edge in that department, but most of these players are so good that stack size and luck should be stronger deciding factors.

Join us tomorrow for the conclusion of the MILLIONS North America with Day 5 of the Main Event, Day 2 of the Turbo and Day 3 of the Finale.

Tommy Nguyen raised to 10M chips, and was contested by Taylor Black. Taylor 3bet to 28M, and Nguyen called. Tommy check called the flop for 25M, and after hitting a moster turn card, he checked and happily called Taylor’s all-in bet, for about 100M. Taylor was caught:

Tommy: Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades
Taylor: 10 of Hearts 7 of Hearts

Board: 7 of Spades Ace of Hearts 3 of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Tommy had the check mark on the turn. Not too long after, Darryll Fish, who was getting quite short, managed to triple up. He open shoved for 51.5M, and two players called. With the same hand, they checked all remaining streets, and Darryll was happy to see that he held and was able to keep playing with the boys.

Darryll: 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds
Guillaume: Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds
George: Ace of Spades Ace of Clubs

Board: 8 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts 2 of Spades 8 of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Stacks are now evening out, as level 36 runs down.

The final table has now been formed, and play will continue until one more player is eliminated or the end of level 36. Here are the chip counts:

    Daniel Strelitz out in 10th

    • Level: 36
    • Small Blind: 2M
    • Big Blind: 4M
    • Button Ante: 4M
    • Chip Average: 217M

    2018/05/01 - 23:49 by Jôle Simard

When Tommy Nguyen opened to 8M chips, Daniel Strelitz tried to pick that up by going all-in himself for 88M. Tommy was covered, and with such pay jumps it wasn’t easy to make the call, but he found it in him to throw a chip in.

Daniel: Ace of Hearts 2 of Hearts
tommy: 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds

Board: 6 of Spades 10 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts King of Clubs

Daniel was crippled to 10M, but managed to triple up shortly after. A few hands went by, including one that saw Darryll Fish 3bet the big stack all-in. Daniel must have been hoping very hard for a call, but it did not come, and he had to to go to war himself. He shoved 7 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds with just over 10 big blinds, but ran into George Lagos’ Ace of Spades Ace of Diamonds.

The flop took away his winning odds, and the turn sealed his fate. Daniel Strelitz takes $110,000 for his great run in the MILLIONS Main Event. Players will now form the final table and play some more until the official 8-handed final table is decided.

Nolet doubles up; Cheong leaves in 11th

    • Level: 35
    • Small Blind: 1.5M
    • Big Blind: 3.5M

    2018/05/01 - 23:05 by Jôle Simard

Guillaume Nolet, after folding to Daniel Strelitz, caught a break against that same player. Nolet raised to 7.5M, and Strelitz 3bet to 21M. Guillaume took a few moments before going all-in for 84.5M, which was snap called by Strelitz.

Nolet: King of Spades King of Hearts
Strelitz: Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs

Board: 9 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds 5 of Spades King of Clubs

Nolet doubled up to just over 170M and is now on the average. Shortly after, Joseph Cheong fell in combat on the other table, bringing Markus Prinz off the stage to even out the tables. Ten players are left in the MILLIONS Main Event, meaning everybody is now in the 6-figure club!

In two eliminations or at the end of the next level, whichever comes first, play will halt until tomorrow.

Wayne Obrien raised to 8M, and was 3bet to 23M by George Lagos. When the action came back to him, Obrien snap jammed for 83,500,000. Lagos called just as fast.

Obrien: Ace of Spades Jack of Hearts
Lagos: Ace of Hearts King of Spades

Board: 2 of Spades Queen of Clubs 7 of Diamonds 4 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds

Obrian was left with 2 million chips, which were lost on the following hand. Shortly after, on the other table, Gregory Roberts lost the rest of his chips to Taylor Black.

    Wayne Obrien: $85,000
    Gregory Roberts: $85,000
