A 14M pot was disputed on table 32 where most of the chips rest. They don’t exactly rest though. Timothy Reilly was under the gun and opened to 500K. Anatolly Filatov, freshly arrived from the other table to balance them out, called from the small blind. Chance Kornuth, showing no fear, got back at the only stack in the tournament that covered him. He made it 2,450,000 to go, and he and Reilly went to the flop heads-up.

Board: 2 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs 6 of Diamonds 2 of Spades 9 of Hearts

Kornuth check called 2.7M on the flop. The turn was checked by both, and Kornuth check called 2M on the river. There was a lot of tanking during that hand, both players staring at each other for a few seconds at a time. When Kornuth caleld the river, Reilly opened Ace of Spades King of Spades for a simple top-top, and Chance mucked.

Reilly now has a commanding lead on this event, and will show up on the final table as the major player.

Duhamel, playing on the monster stacks’ left, had a rare opportunity where both of them had folded. He was on the button with a pair and after a few raises, he and Michael Sklenicka were all-in.

Duhamel: 5 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds
Sklenicka: Ace of Hearts Ace of Diamonds

Board: 10 of Clubs Queen of Spades 2 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds

A few hands later, Samuel Chartier, who had been struggling for a few hours trying to get some life back into his tournament, went all-in from the under-the-gun position with less than a million chips. All was good until Sklenicka, in the big blind, peeked at his cards. He snap called.

Chartier: 2 of Diamonds 2 of Spades
Sklenicka: Queen of Clubs Queen of Diamonds

Board: Ace of Spades 7 of Hearts 10 of Clubs Queen of Hearts 8 of Diamonds

Michael Sklenicka enjoyed some very nice timing, being dealt some nice premiums and having short stacks charging him. We are now two tables of five, one elimination from the 9-handed final table.

Twelve Players have taken a short break which allowed us to update their counts. Chance Kornuth has a massive stack, thanks to his impressive bubble activity. Timothy Reilly orchestrated Joey Weissman’s bust, and is now on top of the board.

Both players are sitting side by side, which makes an interesting dynamic. Interesting for everyone but Samuel Chartier, whose fighting for his life with 5 big blinds and the top biggest stacks on his left.

Two mirror hands occurred in the MILLIONS Finale only minutes apart from each other, one of each of the two final tables.

In the first hand, Joey Weissman was all-in and at risk, but his Ace of Spades King of Diamonds failed to overcome the Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades of Timothy Reilly on a 9 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds Jack of Hearts Ace of Clubs 3 of Spades board. He was eliminated in 14th place.

Moments later, Nik Khan was all-in and at risk with Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts, and he was facing the Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds of Louis Boutin, who only had his opponent covered by 110,000. The pocket-Jacks won this hand as well, and Nik saw his 3,325,000 stack double to more than twice that amount. Louis managed to find a triple up after the hand, but he was ultimately eliminated on the following hand to end his run in 13th place.

    14th: Joey Weissman – $25,000
    13th: Louis boutin – $25,000

Watching an opponent bluff into you when you are holding a full house is always enjoyable. Jonathan Vanfleet was throwing brick after brick on Michael Sklenicka, much to his delight. The last assault was on the river when Vanfleet went all-in, covering Sklenicka. The effective bet was 5.1M, and when the snap call was made, Vanfleet had about 3M left from his Day 3 starting stack of 14M.

Vanfleet: Ace of Clubs 10 of Spades
Sklenicka: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Clubs

Board: 5 of Hearts 5 of Clubs King of Hearts Jack of Hearts 10 of Hearts

Shortly after, the last of Vanfleet’s chips were gobbled. Chance Kornuth finished what Sklenicka had started.

Play in the MILLIONS Finale has been hand-for-hand for nearly 2 hours. As per partypoker rules, the clock has been paused after a full level of bubble time, and the countdown will resume on level 21.

Chance Kornuth has been taking advantage of the situation, harassing mid-stacks incessantly. Samuel Chartier has been doing a good job at staying afloat, going all-in for a little under a million on every orbit, on the button or the cut-off. On his last outing, he was called by Jonathan Duhamel from the big blind, but Chartier’s bigger ace prevailed.

On the other table, Louis Boutin enjoyed a double-up of his own when Anatolly Filatov called his 3bet shove with Queen of Clubs Queen of Diamonds. Boutin’s Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades stayed ahead.

Meanwhile, Aaron Mermelste’s stack was starting to hurt, and when he was dealt an ace in a late position, he took his chances and fired his less-than-a-million stack in an unopened pot. Unfortunately for him, he hit a wall called David Lopez.

Marmelste: Ace of Diamonds 3 of Clubs
Lopez: King of Hearts King of Diamonds

Board: 5 of Clubs 5 of Hearts Jack of Diamonds 9 of Spades 3 of Spades

Players are now in the money, and the next 3 to bust will have $25,000 for their efforts. Congratulations to all!

    David Lopez
