In a pretty stunning turn of events, Day 2 chip leader Daniel Henderson has been eliminated from the tournament in 6th place ($26,000). Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault was the player to take his last chips, but as is evident from the following updated counts, more than one other player got a decent chunk of the 4M+ he had at the last break.

Mike Leah and Omid Shahbazian were eliminated in 8th and 7th positions, respectively, and during the first stint today Marc-Olivier managed to built up enough of a stack to take over the chip lead in the tournament – he’s now sitting with 6,185,000.

When the players went on their first real break of the day, we got full counts for the remaining 6 players.

Marc-Olivier Carpentier Perrault won a huge pot in the opening few hands of the final table in the SHR to take him to over 3.1M in chips.

We arrived at the table that already had a board reading Queen of Clubs 4 of Spades 9 of Hearts 3 of Diamonds set in front of the dealer and a modest pot from early action in the hand. Marc-Olivier had a bet to 130K on the felt in front of him, which had been called by Jean-Serge Baril. Next to act, Dominykas Mikolaitis raised to 560K.

Marc-Olivier made the call and Jean-Serge folded, and the river was dealt: 8 of Hearts.

Marc-Olivier tried to induce a bluff with a check on the river, but Dominykas was having none of it and checked back. Marc-Olivier showed down 3 of Hearts 3 of Spades for a turned set and Dominykas folded, flashing a pair of Aces has he did.

Jeff Cormier was eliminated in 10th place after just 5 or 6 hands of play on the bubble, and with that, the final table has been established and the bubble has burst. From here on out, every elimination will come with a payout coupon – no one leaves empty-handed!

Louis Boutin has been the first player eliminated in the SHR. We weren’t at the tables, but reliable reports passed along that he got it in with Ace of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds from the cutoff and faced a pair of Jacks from Omid Shahbazian in the sb. Omid’s Jacks held, taking his stack to just around 1.1M while Louis hit the rail.

There are now 10 players remaining. Chip leader Daniel Henderson was moved to balance the tables and there are now 2 tables of 5 playing hand for hand on the bubble, which is also the final table bubble.

The 11 players left in the $5,300 SHR have arrived and unbagged their chips, there has been a colour up of the yellow 1K chips, and with no additional delay, play has now begun in the tournament.

Here are a few photos of players arriving for Day 2.
