    Foisy leads the High Roller

As the players returned to the tables from their latest break, the field has a new chip leader in Steve Foisy.

Foisy jumped to the top of the leader board thanks to the last hand before the break when he eliminated Jonathan Duhamel to take down a pot worth almost 3,000,000 in chips.

There is still a long way to go before this event wraps up, as 25 players remain in contention, and the average stack still provides nearly 40 big blinds. Everyone still in the field is assured at least $6,500, and the next pay jump will occur when the field is down to 16 players.

The field in the High Roller has been quickly reduced to the final four tables after a lengthy logjam just before the money bubble.

The mood around the tables has changed significantly; there is lots of laughter to be heard, and the chips are going in far more quickly than at any other point in the tournament. It’s a familiar pattern emerging throughout the field as no one seems interested in backing down from any reasonably strong hand. Also, the blinds have crept up to 12K/24K, meaning that the chip average provides about 40 big blinds. So it comes as no surprise that we are seeing more and more flips at this stage.

Expect the play to tighten up once again as the final table comes into sight.

Although it took a while to get there, the money bubble passed fairly quickly in the High Roller.

The field had remained stagnant for almost the entirety of the previous level, but once the blinds reached 10K/20K in level 19 the bust outs began.

Hand-for-hand play took only three hands to reach its conclusion, as all the chips went in before the flop between Jeffrey Cormier and Nicola Basile. Cormier had a live ace to hit, but Basile’s pocket queens survived unscathed on the jack-high board to send Cormier to the rail in 40th place, putting the rest of the field in the money.

With 42 players remaining, only three away from the money, the runners tightened up their ranges throughout the last level. Three-bets were few and far between, and they were rarely called or raised when they did occur. Pot control has become the new mantra for the players in the High Roller.

Walking through the six remaining tables gives the impression that we are already on the money bubble, even though it is still a few eliminations away. They dynamics at the table show the caliber of the players in the field. The remaining players are clearly among the elite of the poker world and their skill, determination, and resolve is on display.

The players are set to return to the tables following a 30-minute dunner break in the High Roller.

The chips have shifted significantly since the last break, as the new names on the leader board show. The field has been reduced to 45 players, leaving only six bust outs until the money bubble. Most of the remaining players are hovering around the chip average so expect every pot to be hard fought.

The money bubble is now looming on the horizon as only 46 players remain in the High Roller. The top 39 finishers are assured of at least a $5,000 cash in this event, but everyone has their sights set on the $100,000 prize up top.

The players are still playing fairly deep-stacked poker since the average stack still has over 50 big blinds to play so it may still be a while before we reach the money bubble.

Here’s a look at some of the remaining players:
