  • The players’ first break has just concluded and the players are back at their tables for level 3. A quick survey of the room and we found that the larger stacks at this point are in the 65-70K range. Some of the players who have stacks among the leaders are Simon Tang, Jay Michael Dragland, and Stephen Standen although it’s too early for anyone to have broken away from the field.

Early eliminations include WSOP bracelet winner and WPT past champion Noah Schwartz, local tournament player Eric Afriat, who has had considerable success in tournaments in the past few years, and Players Club member Jonathan Driscoll, who made a deep run in the 2010 WSOP Main Event.

  • Players are seated and Kara Scott has kicked things off with the traditional “shuffle up and deal” and just like that Day 1b is underway. The tournament clock says that 218 players are already seated, and with late registration continuing through the end of the break after level 6 it’s clear that this will be a typically well-attended flight.

They’re playing 10 levels today with 15 minute breaks after every second level plus a 45 minute break after level 6. Late registration will close at around 7:15 and the day will finish up before midnight.

Good luck to all of the players in today’s flight!
