    Fifty-one Day 4 qualifiers

    2018/05/01 - 0:19 by Jôle Simard

Today was Day 3 of the MILLIONS Main Event. 285 players started the day, stemming from two Day 2s that played over the weekend. Some of these players have been hustling at the tables for many days, especially if they played many Day 1s to earn a Day 2 seat.

At this point, stamina comes into play, and you can tell who has experience in these marathons by observing the vegetables and the green tea on their tables. These players do all that is required to stay alert during an eleven-hour day of poker.

Darryll Fish has been growing all day and leads the field into Day 4 with a whopping 98,450,000. Fish just added a WPT Championship to his titles in January, and is on a mission this week at Playground Poker Club.

Gnawing at him is Guillaume Nolet, a very strong local that has made it deep in Playground Events in the past. His 87,000,000 chips look pretty good on the list. Taylor Black and Lucas Drolet follow. Antonio Esfandiari and Marc-André Ladouceur have also survived the day.

Tomorrow’s seating draw will be published shortly, along with all players’ counts.

When a poker player refers to a table as being ”good”, they do not refer to anything similar to the current table 59. The table features a crew of very strong players, most of which have an unbelievable resume. Here is a look:

Gregory Roberts opened this hand to 2.2M. Karim Chatur made it 6.8M, which sent Roberts to the tank. After some deliberation, he went all-in, and Chatur called, creating a pot of about 40M chips.

Roberts: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
Chatur: Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades

Board: Jack of Hearts 5 of Diamonds 2 of Spades Ace of Clubs 5 of Hearts

Roberts now enjoys a very healthy stack. Meanwhile, Jean-Pascal Savard, last year’s MILLIONS Champion, and Kristen Bicknell hit the rail. Players have another 15 minutes of play before the last hands are announced.

The MILLIONS North America is now in it’s last level of play. 60 players remain in the hunt for the $1,400,000 top prize, including a slew of heavy hitters such as Antonio Esfandiari, Joseph Cheong, Kristen Bicknell, Manig Loeser and the defending champion Jean-Pascal Savard, to name a few.

Play will pause upon the completion of this last level, and players will return tomorrow at 12pm for Day 4. Once the bags are packed, we will publish the full list of chip counts heading into tomorrow, along with the seating assignments.

David Nguyen, fresh from a triple up with aces, has settled in the driver’s seat with over 80M. He is well ahead, but a handful of people can catch up to him in just one hand.

Guillaume Nolet is one of them, only 15M behind. Only 2 levels are left to this day, after which a few tables will bag their fortunes onto Day 4. Here is the current top 5:

Jean-Pascal Savard was just all-in for his tournament life on a 10 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds board. He was holding King of Spades King of Diamonds and had a ton of outs to dodge, as his opponent tabled Ace of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds. Luckily for him, the running cards were safe, as the dealer brought out a 2 of Clubs and a Jack of Spades.

After the count was done, Jean-Pascal found himself with over 20 million in chips, bringing him back in contention of defending his 2017 MILLIONS North America title.
