One of the “signature” features of the MILLIONS tour – and of the MILLIONS North America in particular – is that the top 3 players in the Main Event will all be awarded a prize of at least one million dollars! With three players now left, play was paused for some photos to be taken and a short dinner break for the remaining players. Congratulations to Anthony Ruberto, Darryll Fish, and Taylor Black for making the final 3 and the 7-figure payouts!

Good luck to the final three:

Markus Prinz has played typically solid poker all day today, but with 5 players already eliminated and the next payout scheduled for $800K, there was no reason for Markus to wait around and he found a hand to play very quickly after Charles was shown the exit.

The hand he fought his last battle with was an Ace of Clubs 5 of Clubs from the sb, but within split seconds of his all-in declaration, Darryll Fish in the bb was all over it: “Call” and flipped over his cards: Jack of Clubs Jack of Diamonds for a 2:1 lead.

The dealer laid out a flop that was very safe for Darryll’s Jacks – 8 of Spades 9 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds but the 8 of Diamonds on turn left noly an Ace on the river able to save Markus. The dealer put out the 2 of Diamonds instead, and that was the end of Markus’ run in the tournament.

    4th place: Markus Prinz, $800,000

Charles La Boissonnière has had a tremendous amount of success at Playground Poker Club in the past – particularly in the past two years of the World Cup of Cards – but his 5th place result in this MILLIONS Main Event is by far his largest event cash to date – and well deserved, judging by his play and the commentary on the live streams.

The tournament had been stuck at 5 players remaining for some time – more than a level – and Charles had been getting a little frisky, raising all-in twice or even three hands in a row to pick up well-needed chips, but generally playing solid poker and doing so in very reasonable spots. The hand that sealed his fate was yet another in this genre – although the result would be very different.

The hand started out differently as Markus Prinz limped from utg – perhaps the first time he had limped today. Next to act was Charles, who raised all-in holding Ace of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds. Action folded around to Anthony Ruberto, who held 10 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds and moved all-in for more behind Charles. Markus folded and Charles was at risk for his final 147M chips.

Flop: 9 of Spades 5 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts for a gutter and back door flush draws. The turn was a 9 of Clubs and the turn was the 3 of Diamonds and that was the end of the road for Charles in the MILLIONS ME.

5th place: Charles La Boissonnière, $600,000

Demosthenes Kiriopoulos is an accomplished player from Toronto that frequently finds his way deep into tournaments here at Playground Poker Club, and while a big win continues to elude him, his 6th place exit just now represents his biggest cash to date and almost doubles his lifetime earnings!

Demo had been short for some time, and having already laddered up a few spots today, he was in the mood to get his 8bb stack into the center of the table with his tournament on the line. And so he pushed, holding Ace of Hearts 2 of Hearts from utg – only to find mega-chip-leader Taylor Black holding 5 of Diamonds 5 of Spades in the cutoff – and happy to use those to try and take out another player in the tourney.

The flop: 3 of Clubs 6 of Clubs 4 of Clubs – but Taylor blocked most of Demo’s straight draws with his two fives. The 8 of Clubs and 9 of Diamonds on the turn and river were no help, and Demo was out in 6th.

    6th place: Demosthenes Kiriopoulos, $400,000

Lagos is the next to go

George Lagos was down to 12bb when 2-way action came to him – Taylor had raised from utg (as he has been doing almost every hand) and Anthony had called. George decided to ship with 6 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds. Taylor got out of the way – but there’s no way Anthony had flat-called the massive chip leader holding nothing but air. Anthony called and flipped over his 9 of Diamonds 9 of Spades.

The flop was nothing short of a miracle for George. The Ace of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds 5 of Spades give him a diamond draw but also some back door straight outs. He had one pull to see one of the diamonds… and the 8 of Diamonds came, giving him the flush – but then the 3 of Diamonds came on the river to give Anthony a better runner-runner diamond flush to the 9 of Diamonds!

    7th place, George Lagos, $302,500

Following Guillaume’s elimination in 9th place, there was a short break to re-configure the table for 8 players (9 is an exceptional layout for the streaming table). When play resumed, cagey play continued for a few hands until Tommy raised 2x from utg+1 – and Taylor was having none of the early position raise from the most active player on the table and 3bet to 35M. Tommy thought it through and decided to call.

The flop was dealt: 8 of Hearts 3 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds and the action went check-check. Things got a little more complicated all around on the turn: 8 of Clubs. On this street, Tommy chose to lead out with a bet of 27M, which found a call from Taylor. The river was the dangerous 6 of Spades which was met by check from Tommy. Taylor took the required amount of time and then quietly, calmly said, “all-in”.

Tommy was in a pretty horrible spot with only 2nd pair on a paired board – but he insta-called… and instantly learned the bad news: Taylor was not playing Ace-high but Jack of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds for turned trips. Tommy’s 9 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds – essentially a bluff catcher – was no good. Meanwhile, Taylor has chipped up to around the 900M chip mark with 7 players left!

    8th place: Tommy Nguyen, $215,000
