Event 3 has come to a close with a result we don’t often see in festival tournaments, but is routine in dailies – an even chop.

By the time play reached the final table, pretty much everyone was short-stacked as tighter play when the tournament got down to three and then two tables allows the amount of the blinds to overtake players’ stack sizes.

After three quick eliminations – including the elimination of tourney-long chip leader Normand Deguire – the remaining 7 players chose to chop the remaining prize pool for $695 each.

Play in Event 3 has reached the final table with just 10 players remaining. This also coincides with the money bubble in the tourney – everyone at the final table is in the money.

There are just 14 players remaining in Event 3 but the players have tightened up considerably, which has reduced the average stack to just over 10BB – which in turn will induce the action to pick up the pace once more. Georges Hallak retains the chip lead at this point in the tournament, joined by two new players among the top 3.

Players are on break and there are only 25 players left in the event as play gets ready to resume in level 15. During the last few levels there have been some wild swings and a lot of the field has caught up to former chip leader Normand Deguire – and one player has passed him on the leaderboard.

The field trailing the leaders has tightened up considerably as well, so there is still plenty of action left to come in the event.

Normand continues to crush the tournament, but since the last break Maxime Laberge has chipped up nicely, surpassing 150K and putting him squarely into 2nd place at the moment.

It was a very quick task to find the chip leader in Event 3 during the last break – one player has more than 2x the chips of the player in 2nd place!

Players in Event 3 are just about to take their second break of the day. There are just 50 players remaining of the 93 who bought in, and with blinds going up every 15 minutes the pace of eliminations is sure to accelerate once players return following this break!

The players in Event 3 have gone on their first break of the day. So far, 89 players have registered for the event, and with late registration closing at the end of this break, that should be pretty close to the final number.
