Survivors of Event 8 – $200 + $20 Survivor – $1,940 each

There is a short break in progress, and the tournament is only 2 eliminations away from completion. As this is a Survivor event, the final 12 players will each take home $1,940.

The shortest stacks belong to Shane Flewelling (41,000) and Raphael Ohayon (46,000), but a few players are sitting around the 100,000 mark, which is also a danger zone.

Players are on a short break here in Event 8, and with 28 players left, two players have a distinct lead on the field. Jean-Francois Marin, the Event 1 champion, is leading the field with 186,000 in chips. Next on the leaderboard is Daniel Mackay, who holds 169,000 chips. There are many players around the 100,000 mark, but at this point it’s still anyones game.

We’ve just completed the first level of the Survivor Event, and so far 79 players have taken their seats. Late registration will remain open for just over another hour, and once it is closed, we will know how many “Survivors” will be paid out tonight.

Tonight’s event in the Playground Winter Festival is Event 8, a $200 + $20 Survivor tournament. Action gets underway at 7:30pm.

The Survivor format is still relatively new in Playground Poker Club festivals, but it has quickly become one of the best-loved events on the schedule – in addition to being very popular among players.

The format is a little bit different than a regular poker tournament. Instead of playing down to a winner, play continues until 10% of the field remains – at which time play is halted and everyone still in the event gets an even share of the prize pool! In a way, it’s similar to a satellite tourney – except that the prize at the end is cash!

A Survivor event such as this one, with a $200 + $20 buy-in, is certain to give the winners a very nice prize at the end of the night – and because play doesn’t continue through the bubble, the pace of the event is sure to be very appealing as well!

Registration tonight is open until the end of the break following level 4, which is to say it’s open until 9pm. There is a 300 player cap, so if you want to be sure to have a seat in the event, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make your way to Playground a little early.
