It’s a rare enough thing to see that the showdown itself provokes a reaction when two players are all-in both holding a pair of Aces – but it was a much louder reaction when one of the players wins the hand… and that’s what brought us to table 20 just in time to see the showdown between Cameron Battikha’s Ace of Hearts Ace of Clubs and Haipeng Pang’s Ace of Spades Ace of Diamonds.

Anderson Frank-Graham – the player who had been sitting right between the two in seat 6 – explained that “they were playing trappy trappy to the turn,” he said, “but then the chips got in.”

The full board was Queen of Clubs 8 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs 4 of Clubs 2 of Clubs and the nightmare scenario was complete for Pang, who was visibly upset by the turn of events.

A Colossal bounty on Larry Robinson’s head!

    2018/08/23 | 17:44 by Jôle Simard

Larry Robinson, former NHL player and coach, Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and Director of Charitable Initiatives at Playground Poker Club, has confirmed his presence at the Colossus, Event #1 of the WSOP-C Playground! Big Bird will be with us tomorrow, August 24th for Day 1C of the Colossus, which starts at 12PM.

His demeanour at the tables is the quintessence of what poker is about: fun with friends. In tomorrow afternoon’s Colossus Day 1C, his table mates will have one more reason to smile about: as soon as Larry confirmed his presence, we placed a $500 bounty on his head! The player who busts Mr. Robinson will receive $500 in partypoker LIVE Dollars, the trendy poker currency. You can use that prize to buy into any Playground tournament, but also for a number of other cool things. Click here for all the details on partypoker LIVE Dollars.

    Welcome to the Colossus!

    2018/08/23 | 11:04 by

It’s August 23rd, and here at Playground Poker Club, that means one thing: the beginning of the first-ever WSOP-C Playground! This marks the return of the World Series of Poker Circuit to Canada after a two-year absence, and is also the kick-off event of Season IV of the WSOP International Circuit. This series features a 7 WSOP-C Ring Events and a total of $4,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools – in other words, its guaranteed to be huge!

Live poker action gets underway today at 12:00pm with Day 1A of the Colossus, which is Event #1 in the WSOP-C Playground and features a $1,000,000 guarantee. The tournament is a $300 + $30 NL Hold’em event with one entry and one re-entry permitted per starting flight. Registration is open until the beginning of level 7 of each starting flight, and players may play in as many starting flights as they desire to try and qualify – with a huge stack – for Day 2.

Today is the beginning of Live starting flights in the Colossus, but it’s not really the beginning of the tournament. Four Online Day 1s have already been held on partypoker, and there are already 37 Day 2 qualifiers from the Online portion of the event. You can see all of the Day 1 results on the official Colossus – Combined Day 1 Results page.

Good luck to everyone playing today, and all week in the Colossus!

    A three-day Satellite Frenzy!

    2018/08/17 | 19:45 by Jôle Simard

In the three days leading to the start of the live portion of the WSOP-C Playground, our regular tournament schedule makes way for a special 3-day Satellite Frenzy, during which you can win your seats for the Main Event, the Monster Stack AND the High Roller.

During those 3 days, players will be able to shoot for a Main Event seat, but also have special access to some rare stepping stones: the only scheduled satellites for the Monster Stack and the High Roller! This is a great opportunity for players to take a shot at an Event that they might not normally play, but also for players who are simply looking to reduce their cost of entry.

For $70 + $10, you can take a shot at playing the $600 + $60 Monster Stack, a 2-Day Event with a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool. The usual $110 + $10 buy-in will be in effect for the Main Event Satellites. The High Roller satellites, at a cost of $220 + $20, are a great opportunity for players who wish to measure their skills on some of the hottest tables in the festival without having to break the bank. The High Roller, with a buy-in of $2,000 + $200, is also a 2-Day Event, but with 2 Day 1s and a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Total seats guaranteed during the Satellite Frenzy:

    • Monster Stack – 20 seats
    • Main Event – 55 seats
    • High Roller – 8 seats

Picture yourself on August 23rd, standing in front of the giant WSOP-C Playground schedule displayed in the entrance of the Tournament Hall, smiling at the thought of your acquired seats for Events 2, 3, and 6! If that sounds good, the Satellite Frenzy is around the corner, waiting for you!

If you can’t fit the Frenzy in your schedule, remember that there are many ways to qualify for WSOP-C Playground Events. Online satellites for the Colossus and the Main Event are running daily, three times a day, while PP LIVE Dollars, earned in satellites on partypoker, can put you in any Playground tournament, including the WSOP-C Playground events.

    See you on the felts!

Starting Sunday – WSOP-C Playground Online Day 1s

    2018/08/16 | 18:49 by Jôle Simard

The WSOP-C Playground is about to get underway with its online phase. The Colossus and the Main Event, with $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 guaranteed respectively, will grace the partypoker virtual felts as early as this weekend:

    • Colossus Day 1A – Online – Sunday August 19th at 9pm
    • Colossus Day 1B – Online – Monday August 20th at 9pm
    • Colossus Day 1C – Online – Tuesday August 21st at 9pm
    • Colossus Day 1D – Online – Wednesday August 22nd at 9pm
    • Main Event Day 1A – Online – Saturday August 25th at 7pm
    • Main Event Day 1B – Online – Sunday August 26th at 7pm

Of course, you can qualify for both of these events on partypoker. Online satellites are running every day:

    • Colossus Satellites – 6pm and 10pm ($16.50 Rebuy) – 8pm ($33 Re-entry)
    • Main Event Satellites – 6pm and 10pm ($55 Rebuy) – 8pm ($109 Re-entry)

Seats won in these satellites can be used for any Day 1, online or live. Hoarding seats can come in handy, as both events use a single re-entry per flight format. This means that players can participate in as many Day 1s as they wish, both live and online, whether they have qualified in a previous flight or not, and use satellite-won seats for every entry and re-entry!

A player CAN send more than one stack to Day 2. This is why, in such a format, players are often seen playing subsequent flights after bagging a small-ish stack in the early days. If you do qualify multiple times, your best stack moves forward, enabling you to tackle Day 2 with a decent army and maximize your chances of seeing the ring up-close… and to wear it!

For the Main Event, there is an extra incentive to play more Day 1s after bagging chips. The registration period for the Main Event extends through the first 2 levels of Day 2. This means that while you shoot for a bigger Day 2 stack, you can also count on being able to use your second-best qualified stack to re-enter Day 2 during the first stint of the day; a comfortable fallback option. It’s like having an ace up your sleeve!

As you browse the partypoker client to choose which satellites and Day 1(s) you wish to play, make sure to check out the PP LIVE Dollars satellites on the schedule. As a reminder, this currency can be used to buy into any Playground tournament, including the WSOP-C Events. These satellites are a great option with tons of flexibility. Moreover, two not-to-be-missed promotions are linked to PP LIVE Dollars: a $50,000 Last Longer and an $11,000 Freeroll. Talk about added value! Click here for more details on PP LIVE Dollars.

So get your seats and get your PP LIVE Dollars now, because when the WSOP-C Playground Online Day 1s start on August 19th, you will want to be ready to focus on the Ring Events!

Essential Guide to the WSOP-C Playground

    2018/08/09 | 18:00 by Jôle Simard

The WSOP-C Playground, held at Playground Poker Club, launches Season IV of the WSOP International Circuit. The WSOP brand, after a two-year absence from Canada, returns in full force with 7 Ring Events from August 23rd to September 3rd. The Event is two weeks out, and takes off on partypoker on August 19th at 9:00PM with the Colossus Day 1A – Online, while the live portion gets underway on August 23rd with the Colossus Day 1A.

We are looking forward to celebrate our first partnership with perhaps the most respected and established brand in poker, and are positioning the last blocks of the infrastructure that will ensure a smooth and pleasurable player experience at Playground Poker Club. To make sure that you get acquainted with and understand the Playground amenities and WSOP-related conveniences, we put together this helpful guide.

    Satellites

First off, know that a great number of players have already qualified for the WSOP-C Playground Main Event through online (Colossus and Main Event) and live satellites (Main Event). Earning your seat through a satellite is the best way to maximize your equity, and although many of them have passed, the vast majority of the guaranteed seats have yet to be awarded, as these events will get progressively crowded and the guarantees increasingly big. Three days before the start of the Festival, our daily tournament schedule will make way for the Satellite Frenzy, 3 days of seat-grabbing poker where you will be able to earn seats to Event 2 – Main Event, Event 3 – Monster Stack and Event 6 – High Roller. The stepping stones to the Main Event will eventually bloat to full-blown Mega Satellites with up to 30 seats guaranteed during the Event! Check out the full monthly schedule here.

    PP LIVE Dollars

Another way to play the Ring Events at a fraction of the price is to use partypoker LIVE Dollars. You can earn them in designated satellites on partypoker and the currency can be used to buy into any Playground tournament, including, of course, the WSOP-C Playground events. Players that choose to build their PP LIVE Dollars bankroll have access to a number of great promotions, including a $1M leaderboard and a $50K Last Longer at the WSOP-C Playground Main Event! That’s right, be one of the first 250 players to buy into the Main Event with PP LIVE Dollars and you will take part in a Last Longer where the last man standing will add $50,000 to any tournament winnings! Learn more about PP LIVE Dollars here.

    Valet

If you live in the area, or rent a car, take advantage of our free valet service. During the WSOP-C Playground, there will be a significant increase in parking traffic. You may find it useful to park right at the front doors and hand your keys to the valet.

    Player’s Card/Massage

If it’s your first visit, you will need a player’s card. Have one made at the Player Services desk, the first stop on your left when you enter the building. It doesn’t take more than 5 minutes, but you may want to expedite the process by filling out the online form. By doing so, your stop at that desk will consist of a simple pick-up.

The Player Services desk also manages massage therapy. Once you’re settled at your table, why not push the comfort to the next level and have one of our certified massage therapists take care of you? At a dollar a minute, they will make sure to flush any stress from your body. Ask the desk to put you on the list!

    Brush Desk

Next up is the Brush Desk. Located immediately after the Player Services desk, this is where everything cash games happen, but also where you should inquire about the Sit & Go Satellite lists. If cash games are your main thing, or if you’re looking to shoot some cash chips before or after a tournament, this is your spot. Tell the Brush Desk staff the game you want to play, and they will hand you a table chip or put you on the waiting list. If you want to add your name to the Sit & Go list, this is also where you have to go.

    Cashier

Past the cash game room, before the tournament hall, you will find the cashier section. This is where you buy and sell cash chips. This is also where you complete your tournament registration, whether it’s to turn your satellite-won ticket or PP LIVE Dollars into a seating ticket, or simply purchase your tournament entry. On your right, a partypoker LIVE section will be in place. The partypoker LIVE team will be happy to answer any question you may have concerning your My partypoker LIVE account, PP LIVE Dollars or about the Event itself.

    Tournament Hall

At that point, you will be 2 steps away from the tournament hall: a huge high-ceiling room housing over 50 poker tables. The hall, with just 5 and a half years of existence, is already rich with history, having seen over 20 festivals. This is where most of the tournament action will unfold. Across the hall is the tournament desk. If you have any tournament-related query, ask one of our tournament staff members.

    Tilt Zone!

For the WSOP-C Playground, an extension will be ready to accommodate the events that require extra tables – which, in all likelihood, will be all 7 of them! You will find it through the doors at the far left of the hall. On the path that brings you to these extra tables, you will find a one-of-a-kind Tilt Zone, where players will be able to blow some steam after a brutal bust! Of course, it is better to never have to need it, but at least you know that if you find yourself on the wrong side of the luck factor, you will have a place to destroy something in a controlled environment!

That’s it, people. We hope that you take advantage of everything that we put in place to make sure that you have the best WSOP-C experience at Playground Poker Club. Although the WSOP-C Playground schedule is already plastered on the walls across the venue, you may want to consult it online. You can do that here. Build your personal schedule and get your focus together, because this is the World Series of Poker Circuit at Playground Poker Club!
