The Open has got the MILLIONS North America off to a fast start, as another massive crowd made it out for Day 1B. Day 1A was very well attended with 586 participants, and today’s flight brought out even more runners with 645 total entries.

This event permitted re-entries during the first nine levels of play, and 133 players put a second bullet into today’s flight as they tried to accumulate as much of the 645,000,000 chips in play as they could with the hope of bringing a monster stack forward to tomorrow’s Day 2. Between the two starting flights, 245 players opted to give it a second try, helping this event easily surpass it’s $1,000,000 guarantee. When the late registration and re-entry period ended at the end of level 9, there was a total of 1,231 entries from both starting flights.

As the field bagged chips at the end of level 12, the chip average hovered around 3,200,000 for the 197 players who remained. Thanks to the huge number of chips in play, many players were able to run up imposing stacks, but Jeffrey Cormier leads them all with 13,350,000 in chips ready for tomorrow.

All together, 394 players advanced through the starting flights. Day 2 starts tomorrow at noon, picking up where they left off in level 13 with blinds of 30K/60K and a 60K button ante.

    Nahoul learns from his mistakes

    • Level: 11
    • Small Blind: 25K
    • Big Blind: 50K
    • Button Ante: 50K
    • Chip Average: 2.7M
    • Remaining: 243
    • Entries: 645

    2018/04/22 - 19:57 by Playground Poker

Nabil Nahoul made an impressive fold a few minutes ago. After a raise to 125K pre-flop, Nahoul re-raises to 300K and Simon Assouline pushes all-in. Action comes back to Nahoul, and he asks for a count. Assouline has over 4M in chips – which makes Nahoul think for a while. He decides to fold his cards face up Ace of Clubs King of Clubs. He folded the hand that cost him his entire tournament last night – he refused to lose his second bullet in the exact same way he lost his first one.

A round and a half is left before the end of Day 1B  – will that be a good enough reason to make some more conservative folds?

Late registrations are closed for this event – with a total of 645 entries including 133 re-entries. They are going to play until the end of level 12, and those who make it through will play in Day 2. Players are back from their third and last break of the day, where we had time to make the rounds and come up with a list of the current chip leaders.

Griffin Benger leads the way with nearly four times the current chip average. Here is a list of biggest stack of the field:

We are about to enter in the last round allowing players to register or re-enter the tournament – with 626 entries so far, it definitely is a huge field. Players have until the end of the next break to hop in.

We are already noticing a lot of all-in action on the tables –  some players doubling up and, unfortunately, some losing their entire stack.

It was the case for Claude Amar, who made a call thinking his opponent, Thomas Robert Zanot, was bluffing. But it wasn’t the case and Zanot got awarded a pot of a little over 2,5M chips – and this was the end for Amar. He mucked his hand as soon as Zanot showed his.

Even though nearly 300 players have already made their exit from Day 1B of the MILLIONS Open, over 340 remain and the tournament hall is still buzzing. With roughly an hour of late registration for this event still available, we expect the 119 re-entries to have a few more (re-)joiners.

This flight has already surpassed the huge turnout from yesterday’s Day 1A so there will be some even larger stacks in play by the end of the day.

Here are some more photos of the field:
