As we begin play in level 13, less than a third of the entries remain in contention. With 48 players left, the chip average still provides over 25 big blinds so there’s room plenty of play.

Claude Boulianne continues to lead the way. To say he’s been running hot would be an understatement; in a recent hand where he found himself in a flip situation with pocket fours up against his opponent’s :1a Jack of Clubs, the ten-high flop left his opponent with no pair and no draw, and Boulianne turned a set to leave his opponent drawing dead.

Here’s a look at some of the players still in contention:

Alexandre Cousineau just doubled through Martin Dyotte.

We picked up the action on the turn when Cousineau led out in the heads-up hand for 10K into a pot of roughly 20K on a 7 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds 9 of Spades 8 of Clubs board. Dyotte made the call, and the two players watched the 4 of Hearts hit the river. Cousineau continued his line, betting 14K, leaving slightly less than 20K behind. Dyotte counted out calling chips and then piled a stack of 5K chips on top and pushed them forward, raising enough to put Cousineau all in. Cousineau sighed, made the snap call and tabled 5 of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds. The straight was good, and Dyotte mucked, giving Cousineau the double up.

The players have left on their second break of the evening, and Claude Boulianne has run away with the chip lead. Nearly half of the field has been eliminated, allowing many players to free roll for the rest of the tournament.

In contrast to the first part of the evening, the bounty chips were flying over the course of the last few levels and a steady stream of bust outs was the result.

Here are the current chip leaders:

The action is heating up in the 6-Max 50/50 Bounty. Given the short-handed format, the ranges are wide open because sitting back and waiting for big hands is not an option tonight. Here’s an example of the kind of plays were are seeing:

A large pot was brewing between Antoine Simon, Shaan Siddiqui and Bassim Hilmi. We picked up the action on the turn when the board read 2 of Hearts Queen of Hearts Ace of Spades 8 of Diamonds and Simon, on the button, made a bet of 5.6K. Both opponents made the call and watched the 6 of Clubs fall on the river. Siddiqui, the first to act, saw his spot to take the pot and moved all-in for 14.2K. Hilmi quickly folded, and Simon went into the tank. After some consideration, Simon made the call. The dealer asked the players to show cards, but no one was eager to table their hand. “Just the ace,” said Siddiqui. “Me too,” Simon replied. It was Ace of Clubs 5 of Clubs for Siddiqui and Ace of Hearts 3 of Diamonds for Simon. As they say, everyone loves a chopped pot!

The prize pool in the 6-Max 50/50 Bounty surpassed its guarantee, and 21 players will cash this event. While we are still a long way away from the prize money, expect the bounties to be highly valued and sought after, as the players try to collect as many as they can with the hope of turning a profit before the money bubble bursts.

Here is the full list of payouts:

With 163 entries, the 6-Max 50/50 Bounty has drawn another big field and makes a great closing event to the June Power Weekend. In contrast to some other bounty events, the first few levels were (somewhat) subdued as only 17 players hit the rail during the first four levels. But this is an action-inducing format so expect things to heat up from here.

Our current chip leader, Antoine Simon, has put himself comfortably ahead of the chip average, but things can change quickly in any tournament, especially in a 6-max, so he can’t rest on his laurels.

Here are the current chip leaders:
