The players in Day 1C have pushed the accelerator to the floor and some of them are accumulating chips at a blistering pace. There are already 6 players with stacks of over 120K – playing more than 150bb, in other words! The chip leader is Nicolas Lareau-Lessard, who is already at 141K and looking to keep accumulating!

The end of level 6 has come and gone and with the beginning of level 7, no more entries or re-entries will be seated in the event. There were 275 entries or re-entries today, contributing to a grand total of 635 entries over the 3 Live Day 1s and the single online Day 1. Tournament staff is working now to convert that into a prize pool, which we will publish as soon as it’s made available.

The players have made their way through the first 4 levels of play today, and there was a 15-minute break following the level during which we were able to survey the room to find the big stacks to this point in the event. We were surprisingly able to find well over a dozen players with stacks greater than double the starting stack – i.e., 50,000 – and two players were already over 100K in chips!

There are still 10 full levels of play today including about 45 minutes of late registration available, so there’s still time to jump in the event. With 235 entries so far, this is by far the largest of the starting flights so far, and we expect a steady stream of entries and re-entries all the way until the end.

Here are a few photos of the players at the tables today. Through the first two levels of play, there are already 158 players entered, and between new entries and re-entries, that number should continue to climb.

The Tournament Director has made all of the preliminary announcements and 102 players have already jumped in to today’s 3rd of 3 Live starting flights in this edition of the Playground 200. Registration is open through the first 6 levels of play, during which time any player may enter or re-enter the tournament at will. In other words, players still have just over 3 hours to join the fun!

    And now for Day 1C

    2018/05/19 - 10:46 by

Today is Day 1C in the Playground 200 tournament during the May Playground Power Weekend. This is the final starting flight in the event, and represents players’ last chance to qualify for Day 2 in the tournament – or to improve their chip holdings going to Day 2 for those that have already qualified. As a re-entry event, any player, whether or not they have qualified for Day 2 already, may join Day 1C and attempt to build a dominant stack to take with them to Day 2.

The event can already be counted as a great success. With 360 entries so far, the day should open up very close to the total number of entries required to match the guarantee, and from there, the prize pool simply increases, one buy-in at a time. Of the 360 entries, there are 78 players currently qualified for Day 2. This includes Mathieu Boucher, one of three Day 2 qualifiers from the Online Day 1 on partypoker, who enjoys a commanding chip lead and is the only player so far to have broken the 300K threshold. Also among the leaders is none other than the Grey Wolf himself, Siamak S, with 275,500, who is one of only 7 players to have broken the 200K barrier.

The goal for some players today, then, will be to simply qualify safely through to Day 2. At the same time, however, there will be other players who are focused not only on qualifying, but on doing so with a TON of chips. Considering this is the last chance players have, competition should be fierce.

Action gets underway in about 15 minutes in the Tournament Hall and will continue today through 14 levels of play. Good luck on the felts to everyone who plays today!
