Final 4 hands of the day

    2018/05/19 - 18:36 by

The Tournament Director has just stopped the clock in level 14 and announced that they field will play another 4 hands and then play will be suspended for the day. With just scraps left on the day, there are still 59 players at the tables, and while there are always one or two eliminations in the last few hands, very close to 135 players will return to start Day 2.

All of this information and more will be available soon when we publish the final results for today and add them to the Combined Day 1 Results page, and then a little later when we will publish the seating draw for Day 2.

There are still 91 players left in Day 1C as they return from their final break of the day and play resumes with 3 levels left to go. Today will wrap up at the end of level 14 – but there’s a long way to go between level 12 and the end of level 14!

The chip leader at the moment is none other than Joey Boczek, who is playing over 300K and threatens to take the overall chip lead into Day 2. Nicolas Lareau-Lessard has a ton of chips in 2nd place so far – he sits directly to Joey’s right.

Here are a few more photos of the action in Day 1C.

Just as the clock came to the end of level 8, there was a very dramatic hand on Table 50 – the table and crowd surrounding were so animated, you would have thought there was Flip N Go happening or something – but in fact it was a normal hand of poker – an abnormally normal hand…

There were three players to the flop. One player was short-stacked and was all-in (Seat 1) and the other two had called. The flop came down: 7 of Diamonds 8 of Spades 10 of Hearts and all the rest of the chips got in as Ranjeev M bet the rest of his stack and Denis Quiron snap called.

The turn and river were 2 of Spades King of Spades – but pandemonium broke out when the hands were flipped over.

Seat 1: 7 of Hearts 7 of Spades
Ranjeev M: 10 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds
Denis Quirion: 8 of Hearts 8 of Clubs

All three players had flopped a set!

The board runout changed nothing, and Ranjeev stacked a very nice pot. However, even after this unlucky hand for Denis, he’s still 2nd place in chips at the moment for second on the leaderboard!

The players in Day 1C have pushed the accelerator to the floor and some of them are accumulating chips at a blistering pace. There are already 6 players with stacks of over 120K – playing more than 150bb, in other words! The chip leader is Nicolas Lareau-Lessard, who is already at 141K and looking to keep accumulating!

The end of level 6 has come and gone and with the beginning of level 7, no more entries or re-entries will be seated in the event. There were 275 entries or re-entries today, contributing to a grand total of 635 entries over the 3 Live Day 1s and the single online Day 1. Tournament staff is working now to convert that into a prize pool, which we will publish as soon as it’s made available.
