Day 1B of the Playground 200, the second of three live starting flights, drew 205 entries. This event features an extended late registration and re-entry period so there was a steady stream of entries right up until the 10pm cut-off point. 28 players opted to fire a second bullet tonight, not wanting to give up their chance at a piece of the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The play was typically loose and aggressive in the early levels, but the prospect of bagging chips for Day 2 clearly had an impact on the way the players approached the last few levels, as things tightened up dramatically. For the most part, the all-ins in the later levels were of a very familiar kind to tournament players; it was mostly race situations where a pocket pair was up against two over cards. There weren’t any notable clashes between big stacks in the late stages, as most players opted to control the size of the pots as much as possible once the end of the flight came into sight.

There remains one more starting flight for the Playground 200, it kicks off Saturday at 11am. Day 2 will be held Sunday at noon.

Day 1B of the Playground 200 is down to its last six tables.

The blinds have crept up to the point that an average stack provides roughly 40 big blinds, but many players are clinging to life with far less than that, and the big stacks are starting to dictate the action. Given the late hour, the investment made to this point has made the players tighten up, knowing that they are only a few minutes away from bagging chips for Day 2.

We are into the last hour of play on Day 1B, and the players are doing their best to steal chips at every opportunity. But not every attempt works out, as Vincent Tremblay just learned.

In a heads-up pot against Levon Dedeyan, Tremblay moved all-in on the river and gave Dedeyan a tough decision. The board read , and Tremblay moved all-in for 35,000 into a pot of roughly 45,000, putting Dedeyan to a decision for his tournament life. Dedeyan took plenty of time to consider all the possibilities before finally making the call with . Tremblay shrugged and rolled over and quietly made his exit.

The players have just returned from their final break of the evening, and the field is down to roughly a third of its starting size.

Only 68 players remain in contention, and Daune Fernandez went on a run over the last two levels that let him seize the chip lead by a significant margin. Siamak S sits comfortably in second, following his fast start to the evening his stack had remained stagnant for a few levels but he found a way to climb back up the leaderboard. Vonesavanh Siphaengphet lost a few chips recently but has managed to maintain one of the bigger stacks in play.

There was a big pot brewing between Brian Pinheiro, Antoine Simon and Brett Hart on a wet flop of .

Pinheiro, the first to act, led out with a bet of 3.8K. Simon, on the button, made the call before the action got back to Hart, in the small blind, who check-raised all-in for 31,600. Pinheiro found himself in a tough spot and spent a couple of minutes in the tank before finally finding the fold button. When the action came back to Simon, he quickly and quietly made the call. Hart flipped over his for a gutshot straight and nut flush draw, and Simon tabled for middle set. The board paired on the turn when the fell, giving Simon the check mark, before the appeared on the river, sending Hart to the rail.

The players have just returned to their seats following the second break of the evening, and Vonesavanh Siphaengphet has emerged as the new chip leader with a stack of nearly five times the current chip average. Jonathan Brazeau and Ramsey Belmaaza have found ways to continue accumulating chips since the last break and remain among the chip leaders.
