    It’s a wrap for Colossus Day 1B

    2018/08/24 | 3:08 by Playground Poker

Chips are going in the bags for the 27 players who have managed to secure their places for Day 2. Jonathan Bussieres has the biggest stack at 792,000 chips, easily double the chips of any other player on this flight.

The results of Day 1B have been added to the Colossus – Combined Day 1 Results table, and this list shows that Jonathan has taken the overall chip lead in the tournament – and has a healthy lead over 260K ahead of the nearest competitor.

We are in the last few minutes of level 14 and the tournament director has called for 4 final hands to be played. Sitting comfortably in the lead is Jonathan Bussieres with a monster 750,000+ stack. But all eyes are on the smaller stacks, as the last 27 players struggle to bag as many chips as possible to carry on to Day 2.

Here are a few photos from level 14.

The tournament had just gone down to three tables when we caught a glimpse of an important hand for Diane Rose Cheechoo. Diane Rose was down to her last 43,000 chips and was all-in along with Arthur W. and Ricky Campanelli who were also all-in.

Diane Rose: 6 of Spades 6 of Hearts
Arthur: King of Clubs King of Diamonds
Ricky: 10 of Hearts 10 of Clubs

When the flop came 5 of Spades 10 of Spades Jack of Spades Ricky was very satisfied with his set of tens. But all eyes quickly shifted to the smallest card tabled: the 6 of Spades held by Diane Rose. At this point Arthur hoped for a King and Ricky just wanted to avoid any other spade. The 3 of Spades on the river gave Diane Rose the win, vaulting her stack to just below the average. Arthur was awarded the 80,000+ side pot.

After 12 levels, the 32 remaining players are on their final break of the evening. This gave us the opportunity to locate the chip leaders. Most players have been moved since the beginning of the tournament, and as bigger stacks arrive on each table the action intensifies.

Jonathan Bussieres is the clear chip leader with a whopping 452,000 stack. Here are the leaders, as play gets under way for the final stretch to the end of level 14.

We are now down to the last 4 tables and the players are trying to make the best of all the action.

We saw Ricky Campanelli increase his already nice stack when a nicely timed pocket queens held against suited connectors from Andrew Lalonde.

Andrew Lalonde: 10 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds

Everything was possible when both players tabled their hands. Sadly for Andrew a queen on the window spelled disaster for him, and he was sent to the rail in 41st position as Ricky piled on the chips smiling.
