The Colossus Day 1I Turbo comes to an end in a few minutes, and we took a few photos of some of the players. Although this is technically the last day 1 in Event #1 Colossus, Day 1H is still running in the Tournament Tent and should close around 3:00am.

The results of Day 1I have been added to the Colossus – Combined Day 1 Results table. Richard Edwin Mask was the overall leader in the flight with 390,500 chips, which vaults him into the top 15 of the Day 2 qualifiers by chip count.

Day 1I – Vincenzo Abate takes the lead

    • Small Blind: 800
    • Big Blind: 1.6K

After 7 levels of 20 minutes in the turbo Day 1I the players take a short break. A quick survey of the 15 tables in the tournament allowed us to spot 100K+ stacks. The tournament has logged 263 entries and the registration period is now closed.

Vincenzo Abate has taken a huge lead with 199,400 chips. At the halfway mark this is quite a sizeable amount!

Here are a few more chip leaders.

Play in Day 1I continues unabated, with the first (and only) break set to come at the end of level 8. A quick survey of the room shows Gary Lucci in the lead with the only stack over 100K so far, though there are a few players hot on his heels – and there’s a long way to go!

There are also some new entrants to the tournament of note – in particular, Will Molson, Samuel Chartier and Mike Leah. It’s not often that you see players with $2.2M, $3M and $7.6M respectively in published live career earnings in a $330 buy-in tournament – it will be interesting to track their progress should they manage to qualify for Day 2 through this turbo flight.

Play continues now in level 8.

The Turbo is already into level 2

    • Level: 2
    • Small Blind: 100
    • Big Blind: 200
    • Button Ante: 200
    • Chip Average: 21K

There are 140 entries so far in the Turbo Day 1I in the Colossus, but more players keep arriving to take their final shots at a coveted spot in Day 2 in this event.

Here are a few photos of players in the event as the clock got started at 8:00pm.

Next: the Turbo Day 1 flight

    2018/08/26 | 19:46 by

Coming up next is the final starting flight in the $300 + $30 Colossus, set to get underway at 8:00pm tonight. This one is a little bit different than the starting flights so far – it’s a Turbo, which in this case means that the blind levels will be just 20 minutes in length.

The shorter blind level lengths tightens up the whole schedule – late registration will be open until the beginning of level 9, but that will be at 10:55pm, just under 3 hours after it begins, and the whole thing will wrap up at just after 1:00am – earlier even than the Day 1H flight currently underway in the Tent!

This is the last chance for players to qualify for Day 2 in the event, so we’re expecting it to be an action-packed flight… there won’t much of an opportunity for players to wait for something to happen!

Action gets underway in the Tournament Hall in 15 minutes – good luck to all.

Today in the Colossus – a day full of Day 1s

    2018/08/26 | 10:15 by

The $300 + $30 Colossus in the 2018 WSOP-C Playground has reached the final day to play Day 1s in the event, and today there are three more chances in which to book a spot in Day 2 on Monday. In fact, considering that this is a single re-entry event, players actually have 6 more chances – so even someone who has not played a single hand in the tournament yet will have plenty of opportunity to take their shot at Day 2 and possibly a share of the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

It all gets started today with Day 1G at 12:00PM, which will be followed by Day 1H at 4:30PM in much the same pattern as the past few days. The new factor today is Day 1I, the Turbo flight, which will begin at 8:00PM and will feature 20 minute blinds. Late registration (and the re-entry period) in Day 1I ends at 10:55PM, meaning that players will have just under 11 continuous hours in which they can enter (or re-enter) the event!

There are already almost 250 qualifiers that have booked their spot in Day 2 – and a handful that have qualified more than once and will take their best stack forward. One thing is certain – today’s action in the Colossus will add a lot more qualifiers to the mix for Monday!

    Good luck!
