Play in Day 1G has concluded

    2018/08/26 | 22:49 by

Today’s 12:00pm starting flight has now progressed through all 14 levels and play has been suspended for the day while the remaining players bag up their chips to return to play tomorrow in Day 2. According to the tournament clock there were 97 players remaining when the time ran out, which is a healthy number of players to add to the 247 that had already qualified for Day 1.

The chip leader to end the day is a newcomer to the leaderboard on the day, Tarek Hammoud, followed closely by Yann Prevost-Dumont. Players like Louis Boutin, Vasilios Gerontakos, and Trevor Delaney who had been fixtures on the leaderboard all day are also present near the top of the list – they ended the day in 3rd, 8th, and 7th respectively.

The full results from Day 1G have been added to the Colossus – Combined Day 1 results page, and stay tuned to this WSOP-C Event News site and/or the Playground Poker Club Facebook page for a link to the Official Day 2 Seating draw, which will be published as soon as Day 1H concludes.

Play in Day 1G is now into level 13 and players have taken their last break of the day. During the break we were able to get counts of all of the top stacks at this point, and one thing we’ve found in this starting flight is that the leaderboard is a lot more consistent than in previous flights. Vasilios Gerontakos and Trevor Delaney have been near the top all day, and Louis Boutin and Keenen Smallwood have joined them for the past couple of levels if not more.

Vasilios Gerontakos must have been spurred on by being the only player with less than 100K on the most recent leader’s list, because after moving from one end of the Tournament Hall to the other, he has grown his stack to over 270K in chips. Right behind him at 238K is Stephen Hamilton, and then there are quite a few players in the 125K to 180K range who are definitely well enough stacked to be dangerous to anyone.

Since we already published a photo of Vasilios as chip leader earlier today, here’s an alternative: a look at what playing his stack looks like from his perspective!

Registration in Day 1G in the Colossus has now come to a close and the final number of entries for the flight was 712 – the largest single event-day in Playground Poker Club history! This brings the total number of entries in the event to 2738 so far – with Day 1H and Turbo Day 1I yet to play.

During the 6 levels that have been played already in Day 1G, a few players seem to have been working just a little harder than the rest – or at least they’ve been luckier! In any case, there are already 4 players with over 100K in chips, starting with Trevor Delaney at 146,700.

Day 1G in the Colossus has now passed the 700 entries mark – it’s up to 705 with 30 minutes of late registration/re-entry time available – and the buzz in the Tournament Hall has been incredible – and hasn’t subsided – all day.

Here are a few more shots of the action in Day 1G, taken in levels 5-6:

    Over 90K in 3 levels!

    • Level: 4

The players in Day 1G have just returned from their first break of the day and when we surveyed the room for chip leaders, we found that there was one player who had already amassed a stack of over 90K – 91,600 chips, to be exact. The player is Vasilios Gerontakos, and with that stack, he has already placed himself in a decent position for a good Day 1 run.

No one can be complacent, however, because there are quite a few players that already have double the chip average or more, including Vasilios, Kevin Rousselle (77,000), and Dimitri Tchakarov (70,600).
