    Colossus Day 1H – it’s over.

    2018/08/27 | 3:13 by Playground Poker

Todays Day 1H flight has now progressed through all 14 levels of play. The tournament clock is stopped for the day while the remaining players bag their chips.

The Tournament Tent is slowly emptying out as the players leave for some well-deserved rest. After all was said and done, 63 players made it through to Day 2 in this flight. This will bring the grand total of qualified players for Day 2 to 458.

Today’s results have been added to the Colossus – Combined Day 1 results page.

Stay tuned to this WSOP-C Event News site and/or the Playground Poker Club Facebook page for a link to the Official Day 2 Seating draw, which will be published shortly.

Ten beautiful ladies were among the proud players that qualified for Day 2 in this flight. It is with great pleasure that they let us take snapshots of them a few minutes before the tournament ended.

Congratulations to all the players who qualified. Day 2 gets underway tomorrow (technically today) at 12:00pm.

The tournament director has announced that there will be 4 remaining hands played on each table. The Tournament Tent has been witness to some awesome poker and great action here today.

The players gave it their all and are eager to bag their chips. There are currently 395 players qualified for Day 2. This includes the 52 players that made it in Day 1I Turbo, that finished a few hours ago. We will soon know how many players will be added to the list from Day 1H.

Here are a few last photos taken in level 12, just before the break.

The last break of the tournament, between levels 12 and 13, gave us the opportunity to survey the scene, and find out how the players are doing. The players still have two 40-minute levels to go, before bagging chips. The end of this flight will mark the end of Day 1s in the Colossus Event.

It’s no surprise that Sydney Barnier is the chip leader. This is due in large part to the huge hand he won just before the break. He is now sitting on 427,000 chips and will do everything in his power to maintain and improve it.

We did find a few stacks above the 300,000 level and are listed here.

Some hands can make or break a tournament.

At the end of level 12, and just a few minutes before the scheduled break we witnessed such a hand.

Pre-flop Sydney Barnier was all-in with two other players: Rajendra Patel and Jean-Francois Alexandre. After receiving their cards, each player probably looked at their own hand and thought to himself: “Yes, finally, I needed this!”. But when all the cards were tabled, two players were in for a nasty surprise… the best hands in No Limit Hold’em were tabled:

Sydney Barnier: Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts

Rajendra Patel: King of Spades King of Clubs

Jean-Francois Alexandre: King of Hearts King of Diamonds

The board was dry 8 of Hearts 9 of Hearts Jack of Clubs 5 of Spades 7 of Diamonds , and the bullets held their ground.

Bernier’s original stack covered the other two players. Jean-Francois Alexandre had kept a decent stack all day, so Sydney Bernier scooped up the mother load and could still be seen rearranging his chips 2 hands later.

Day 1H: John Slaughter leads the pack

    • Level: 10
    • Small Blind: 800
    • Big Blind: 1.6K

    • Chip Average: 75K

After level 9 players went on a well-deserved break, and we went searching for our chip leaders. John Slaughter seems to have found a nice groove and has managed to build up a respectable 319,500 chip stack. As always, the players know better than to fall into complacency. Poker is a game full of surprises, and Lady Luck is fickle and has an evil sense of humor, as any player can attest to.

We’ll keep an eye out on the action and see if John Slaughter can maintain his lead.

Here are the top 3 chip leaders after 9 levels:

We are at the beginning of level 7 here in the tent, and the players just came back from break. The registration (and re-entry) period is now closed.

We’ve had quite a turnout for Day 1H: 502 entries, including 97 re-entries. We currently have 229 players still in the action. Some players with shorter stacks are keeping an eye on the clock, because they know they have until roughly 10:55pm, to register in the last Day 1 of this event. Day 1I has been running for 90 minutes and there are already 190 entries.

During the break we went through the Tent and found three chip leaders. Steve Mansour is the front-runner with a stack of 201,800 chips, almost 5 times the chip average.

The players settle in for the middle stretch of the tournament. This is when the players need to bring their A-game to the table in order to feed their stacks enough to last another 8 levels.
