Here is a hand that was played by Patrick Boisvert and Jonathan G, both in the top 3 of our last leaderboard. They are sitting on both sides of the dealer, at the far corner’s table. Patrick was in the small blind, Jonathan in the big blind, and both were looking at the
flop when we got to the table. Patrick led it with 6.5k, into what looked like a min-raised pot. Jonathan called, and the turn came the
. This time, Patrick check-called 8.5K. When the
appeared on the river, the table was turned once again, as Patrick led for 15K. Jonathan tanked for a while, and finally elected to fold his hand.
It is natural to imagine that Patrick placed a continuation bet with ace high, check-called when the turn brought a 2-pair board, and then led again when he hit his ace, but this just might be what he decided to represent. A great example of how not to fear getting into a hand with another deep stack.
