Daune Fernandez came into Day 2 as the defending The $250 Frenzy champion, having taking down this same event this past November for $50,000. When play was down to 110 players, two spots from the money, he moved all-in for just under 100K from utg, and found a call from shorter-stacked Max Zeppetelli, sitting to his left. Daune started the hand as the underdog, tabling 9 of Spades 9 of Clubs versus Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts, but managed to win the hand by turning a set of nines.

Play then entered hand-for-hand, and from the big blind Daune called an early-position open from Jason Conforti. He checked on the 2 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds flop, and went into the tank when Jason fired a c-bet of 50K. After a few moments, he announced “raise”, matched the 50K bet, then slid forward the rest of his stack. He was met with a quick call from Jason, and the two players tabled their hands.

Daune found himself trailing in the hand once again, holding 10 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds for a flush draw and gut-shot to the straight flush, as he was up against a bigger flush draw, King of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds. With no help on the 3 of Hearts turn and 6 of Spades river, Daune was eliminated in 109th place, one shy of the money.

The remainder of the field shared a moment of enthusiasm as they secured a cash prize of at least $500.

Congratulations to the in-the-money players!
