Our Deepstack Turbo Champion: Jeremy Galin

2017/02/06 - 22:13 by Jôle Simard

Shortly after the ICM deal was made, Patrick St-Laurent was eliminated, leaving Cole Spencer Neufeld and Jeremy Galin heads-up, with very similar stacks (about 2.2 million each). The hand that put Neufeld ahead started innocently enough, with Neufeld limping in, and Galin checking the option. The Jack of Clubs 5 of Spades 4 of Hearts flop was checked by both. On the 6 of Hearts turn, Galin threw in a 200K bet, which was called by Neufeld. The river brought a King of Hearts, and Galin fired another 375K, which Neufeld called, having spiked the last card.

Jeremy Galin: 6 of Clubs 2 of Hearts
Cole Spencer Neufeld: King of Spades 8 of Spades

Neufeld floated the turn with a plan in mind, but the river allowed him to just call, and he now had a 2 to 1 chip lead. Shortly after, Cole Spencer Neufeld open-shoved with Queen of Spades 6 of Hearts, and Jeremy Galin called him with Ace of Spades 7 of Clubs. The board came 3 of Clubs 4 of Hearts 9 of Hearts 2 of Spades Ace of Clubs, and they were back even. A few hands later, Jeremy went on to 3-bet Cole’s bluff raise, and chipped up to a 3 to 1 lead after the fold.

The final hand started with a min-raise by Jeremy and a call by Cole. The flop came 6 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts 7 of Hearts, and both players checked. On the Ace of Spades turn, Cole took a shot at the pot, and fired 210K, which was casually called by Jeremy. The 3 of Diamonds came on the river, and after quick deliberations, Cole went all-in for a pot-size bet, and Jeremy could not have called faster. He was setting a trap the whole way with Ace of Diamonds King of Spades! Cole showed the 10 of Hearts 3 of Hearts, for a busted flush draw.

Well done Jeremy!
