In a battle of the blinds, Daniel Le managed to extract a considerable chunk of Patrick Trinh’s stack. He called a raise pre-flop from the big blind, then called a bet on the flop and again on the turn before raising all-in versus Patrick’s river bet on a board showing Jack of Clubs 6 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts 2 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds. With around 800K in the pot and a bet of 350K in front of him, Patrick went into the tank to decided what to do with his remaining 1.2 million.

“Do you have Aces?” asked Daniel, which made every player at the table take a second look at the board. Patrick nodded no silently, tanked for a few more minutes and finally let go of his hand. Daniel passed the 3 million chip mark with that hand.

While this hand was in process, Jean-Guy Larosiliere doubled up through Christopher King. Action folded around to Christopher in the small blind, who applied maximum pressure by moving all-in versus Jean-Guy in the big blind. Jean-Guy is not one to be bullied around though, and he made the call with King of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds with his 11 big blind stack, and was poised for the doubled up versus the 5 of Spades 7 of Spades of his opponent. With no help on the board, Christopher was forced to pay out almost 900K.

Moments later it was Nicholas Belanger who tried to throw his opponent off a hand as he 3-bet shoved over the top of Jocelyn Poirier’s preflop open. Jocelyn made the call holding Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs, and doubled his 1.1 million stack through Nicholas’ Ace of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds.

Play continues 16-handed, with a short break scheduled in a few minutes during which we will update the chip counts.

Christopher Kokozaki only had around 300K when he open-shoved from early position. Brent McCue 3-bet shoved over the top from the cutoff, and Antoine Chuzeville quickly moved-in for less from the button, prompting the blinds to fold their hands.

Christopher: King of Spades Jack of Spades
Brent: 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts
Antoine: King of Hearts King of Clubs

Brent nearly locked in the pot by flopping a set, and went on to win the 3-way all-in on a board showing Jack of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs 10 of Spades 5 of Diamonds. He now sits on roughly 2 million in chips.

17th and 18th place: $1,200.00

Yan Nadeau started as one of the chip leaders today but things didn’t go his way and before too long he found himself playing a stack just under 1M in chips – and then came the bad part.

In a hand against the neighbour to his right, Jonathan Bourdages, the players both saw the flop of 4 of Diamonds 3 of Hearts 10 of Hearts – as it turns out, the flop hit them both. The chips all got in the middle and Yan turned over Queen of Spades 10 of Clubs while Bourdages had him pipped holding King of Hearts 10 of Spades. The King of Diamonds on the turn sealed it (the river was Jack of Spades) and Yan shipped 865K to Bourdages, leaving him just over 100K.

One hand later Yan found a quick double but he was still very short. On his next button he shoved again, this time finding a call from Simon Pin-Disle.

Yan: Ace of Diamonds Jack of Spades
Simon: King of Clubs Queen of Hearts

Yan was in decent shape until the flop: 4 of Clubs 7 of Hearts King of Spades. The 7 of Spades 3 of Hearts sealed the deal and he was eliminated in 19th place.

19th place: Yan Nadeau, $1,050.00

Mathieu Boucher and Manon Dallaire have both been eliminated and the tournament is down to 20 players remaining.

Boucher was shown the door after he open shoved his remaining 575K holding Ace of Hearts 10 of Hearts. Patrick Trinh reshoved to isolate – successfully – and turned over Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds.

The board ran out 3 of Spades 3 of Clubs Jack of Clubs Queen of Clubs 10 of Spades to complete Trinh’s flush.

Dallaire left after her open shove from the hijack was called by chip leader Daniel Le on the button.

Dallaire: Queen of Spades 10 of Spades
Le: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Spades

The board ran out safely for Le’s Aces: 10 of Hearts 7 of Hearts 8 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds King of Spades and Dallaire was sent to the Tournament Desk to pick up her payout coupon.

Next, Karim Idrissi took out Simon Bissonette-du-Cap.

Bissonette-du-Cap open shoved from early position for about 525K holding 6 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds and Idrissi went all-in over with Ace of Clubs Queen of Hearts. Idrissi hit the Ace of Hearts on the flop and dodged a gutshot draw for Bisonnette-du-Cap to win the hand.

Jacques Perron opened to 120K from middle position, and was put to a decision when Jonathan Bourdages 3bet all-in from the button. He made the call but found himself in a world of trouble, as his Ace of Diamonds 10 of Hearts was dominated by the Ace of Hearts King of Hearts of Jonathan.

The board ran out Jack of Spades 9 of Spades Jack of Diamonds 7 of Hearts 4 of Hearts, and once the count was done it was concluded that Jacques was covered by only 5K, sending him to the rail in 26th place. Jonathan earned the 1.1 million chip pot, bringing him back above average stack.

Moments alter we caught up to the action on the turn on table 36, where Patrick Trinh lead out for 125K on a 8 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs Queen of Diamonds and quickly called the all-in of Olivier Theriault-Boudreau worth around 420K. Olivier, holding King of Spades 8 of Hearts, was drawing dead to Patrick’s set of 9 of Clubs 9 of Spades, and the river 3 of Spades was dealt as a formality.

On the very next hand, Bart Simienski was eliminated in 24th place holding King of Spades 5 of Spades versus King of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds on a 2 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds 8 of Hearts board.

Shortly after, another elimination occurred on table 36, asPatrick Trinh opened raised to 115K, and Nimer Ltaif made the call from the small blind. Richard Myron then 3bet all-in for 310K from the big blind, finding a call from both players – who checked on the 8 of Hearts Queen of Hearts 6 of Hearts flop. When the turn brought the 7 of Clubs, Nimer fired all-in to bring the hand down to heads-up. He tabled King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds for top pair and flush draw, and held to win versus the Ace of Clubs 5 of Diamonds of Richard as the river paired the board, bringing the field down to 22 runners.
