There are breaks after every 3rd level in the Second Chance event, and the players are currently taking a few minutes away from the tables to stretch their legs.

There are currently 83 players registered in the event with late registration continues to be open all the way until 4:00pm. Some of the most recent registrants include Chris McClung, Daniel Le, Alexander Allison, Jason Conforti, and Jeff Cormier.

During the break we found a few players with a modest lead on the field, including Kathy Sawers, Benny Chen, Alex Difelice, and Gerald Fehr, all of whom are playing 44K or more chips at this very early stage of the tournament.

Registration in the Second Chance tournament continues to grow as players dig out and make their way to the club to join the event. There are currently 57 players at the tables.

One of the players that has registered is Benny Chen, who was the champion of 2 of the past 3 Second Chance events we have run here at Playground Poker Club. He didn’t have a chance in the 3rd event – in November when the tournament was being held, Benny was still in the WPT Montreal, eventually coming 2nd in the event. Benny has registered and taken his seat in this edition of the Second Chance – in hockey terms, he’s going for the hat trick!

Some of the other names poker players will know in the event include Mike Sexton, Maria Ho, Ben Tarzia, Harley Stoffmaker, Khaly Dang, and Chanracy Khun.

Here are a few photos from level 1 of today’s Second Chance event. Registration is growing though due to the snowy conditions outside there are fewer players at this point than during the last two events. That being said, around 50% of the field registered after the 2nd level in past events, so we expect the number to grow steadily throughout the day.

Regardless of how many players make it to the event, it represents amazing poker value because of the huge $150,000 Guarantee in place. It’s time to dig your cars out of the snowbank and get to the beautifully plowed Playground Poker parking lot – and cone ahead in to play the event!

The players who have arrived so far have take their places at the tables and TD has made his opening announcements – and with that, cards are now in the air in the Second Chance event!

Take a Second Chance today

2017/02/13 - 10:42 by

In just minutes, the $1,500 + $150 NL Hold’em Second Chance event – Event 13 in the Playground Winter Festival presented by partypoker.net – will get underway in the Tournament Hall. This is an opportunity for everyone who played in the WPT Playground to take another shot at a relatively high-buy-in tournament.

The Second Chance event is a little different than a WPT, however, in that it’s a pure freezeout event. There is a single Day 1 – today – and players have to have their wits about them from right from the start of the tourney. With a $150,000 Guaranteed prize pool, it’s certainly worth the effort!

Players will start with 25K in chips and blind levels throughout the tournament will be 45 minutes long (or at least until the final 2 players are heads-up – then blinds levels will increase every 30 minutes). This is a 2 Day event and play will continue today for 15 levels.

Players have until the end of level 6 to register in the event, and as usual we expect a good number of players to take the opportunity to late reg.

Good luck!
