It’s something that every poker player will witness eventually, but it’s still fun – if a little frustrating – to see happen live.

In a recent hand between Georges Hallak and William Blais, action preflop was pretty subdued, but the 5 of Clubs 10 of Spades 8 of Hearts flop the players got into a (short) raising war that ended with an all-in plaque in front of each of them. William flipped his cards first: Ace of Clubs Ace of Diamonds. When Georges saw the hand he grimaced – and flipped over Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades. The turn and river were the 5 of Diamonds 8 of Spades and they chopped the pot.

Level 12 in Day 1A of the $250 Frenzy has just begun and with exactly 3 levels of poker left to play today, there are just 37 players still in the action distributed across 4 10-handed tables.

During the recent break we were able to get a snapshot of the current chip leaders. Currently, the leader by a long margin is Martin McManus. Following him are 3 other players playing stacks 2x the average – but only one or two players following them have breached the 100K mark.

Play in Day 1A will wrap up after the end of level 14, at which time we’ll publish a full list of Day 2 qualifiers and their chip counts.

The players in Day 1A of the $250 Frenzy are currently taking their second break of the day as level 8 has been completed. We surveyed the remaining 57 stacks for the current leaders in the flight, and found 3 players with stacks greater than 100K.

Players in the next group behind the leaders include Shawn Daigle, Maxime Boulais, Tam Ho, and Kathy Sawers – any of whom could jump up among the leaders very quickly.

There’s still plenty of time for anyone left in the field to put together a nice stack – but with 6 full levels left to play, these top 3 players are in the driver’s seat.
