Endrit Geci was the shortest stack in the field when he moved in from the small blind in an unopened pot. With only 4 big blinds to his name, he wasn’t able to make Naghibollah Noori let go of his big blind, even though he only held 3-high.

Endrit: 2 of Diamonds 2 of Spades
Naghibollah: 2 of Clubs 3 of Clubs

Board: :3 of Spades 7 of Spades Ace of Spades 4 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds

16th place: Endrit Geci – $1,720.00

Isaac Buswell opened from the button and Jason Conforti replied with an all-in worth 650K from the big blind. Isaac made the call and the two opened their hands.

Isaac: Ace of Spades Jack of Spades
Jason: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds

“Three days of work boils down to this…” commented Jason as the dealer was preparing to open the community cards, almost knowing the outcome of the hand before even seeing it.

Isaac came from behind to find a pair of jacks on the 3 of Spades Jack of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds 3 of Hearts board to send Jason out in 17th place.

17th place: Jason Conforti – $1,720.00

Gregory Feuz saw an opening when action folded around to him on the button, and pulled the trigger for a little under 400K in an attempt to steal the blinds. Unfortunately for him Stephen Nahm woke up with a monster in the big blind to make the call.

Gregory: 6 of Hearts 2 of Spades
Stephen: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts

Stephen had to sweat the hand out, as Gregory paired the 8 of Hearts 2 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds flop, added an open-ended straight draw on the 7 of Clubs turn before finally bricking the 10 of Diamonds river.

18th place: Gregory Feuz – $1,720.00

2017/02/07 - 19:38 by Playground Poker

As expected with the amount of short-stacks in play, the tournament dropped from 24 players to 18 in half a level of play.

Benoit Lord got straight to work as he eliminated Patrick Mailloux on the first hand of play, besting ace-ten with his pocket queens.

Michael Malm claimed the next victim, as he opened with 8 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts and followed suit when short-stack Andrew Boujaoude 3-bet with Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts. The 3 of Clubs 2 of Clubs 6 of Spades 4 of Hearts 9 of Clubs board showed no signs of danger to Michael as he added some ammunition to his armory.

After finding an early double up, Lucian Mariuta was trying to steal the blinds from the button as he ripped his 400K stack with Jack of Clubs 9 of Clubs, but Philippe Belley woke up with Jack of Hearts Jack of Diamonds in the small blind and send him to the rail.

Kelvin Tang found a good shoving hand for his short stack, and he was looked up by Jean Allan in the big blind. Although Kelvin’s Ace of Clubs Jack of Diamonds started as the favourite, Jean Allan’s Ace of Hearts 4 of Clubs prevailed on the 8 of Hearts 4 of Spades 7 of Clubs Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs board to earn the knockout.

Philip Tse open-shoved just over 300K from the button with Ace of Spades Queen of Spades and found a call from Jordan Saccucci in the small blind, who tabled Ace of Diamonds Jack of Clubs. Jordan spiked a jack on the Jack of Diamonds 4 of Clubs 6 of Spades 2 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts to send Philip to the rail in 20th place.

Naghibollah Noori put maximum pressure on short-stacked Mohamed Ben Yahia by shoving on his big blind from the small blind, but Mohamed found a hand worth calling with as the two showed-down heads-up. Naghibollah’s King of Spades 8 of Diamonds was trailing the King of Diamonds 10 of Hearts of his opponent, until the dealer rung out a 2 of Diamonds 8 of Spades 4 of Clubs 6 of Spades 7 of Diamonds board to bring the field down to 18 players.

A full redraw just took place, and the players are now in the following seats:

24 players are back tonight for the conclusion of Event 3, and action won’t stop until we have just one player left in the tournament, who will earn himself the title of The $250 Frenzy Champion. So far players have already locked in a cash prize of at least $1,280, however we know everyone has their eyes on the $43,000 top prize.

Jonathan G returns to the felts as chip leader with a little over 2.5 million, and he has a lead of over 1/2 a million in chips over any other play. With a handful of short-stacks in play, we can expect action to get going right from the start tonight. Full stacks and seating assignments can be found in the table below.

The tournament director has just announced the start of the tournament, and with that cards are in the air! Follow live updates and photos from tonight via our own Playground Poker Blog.

Good luck to our Day 3 finalists!
