The Survivor Event concludes on a 17-way chop

2017/02/09 - 2:09 by Jôle Simard

The $300 + $30 Survivor Event just came to a close, and the chop deliberations were rather quick. Out of the 17 players that owned stacks, two of them were very rich. These players were Timothy Deering and Shawn Daigle (proud owner of 2 World Cup of Cards Trophies). They both collected $2,900.00, while the other 15 players took $1,864.00. In the following group picture, our 2 biggest prize laureates are sitting on the right, shaking hands.

Congratulations to all survivors!

Behrouz Ghaedi

The Survivor tournament is now on its second break, and the field is down to 69 players. One of them is crushing his table, having more than 3 times the average! This player is Behrouz Ghaedi, who finished 6th in Event 5, a $500 + $50 Freeze tournament. It sure looks like he prefers terminating than surviving. Play will resume soon, and the field should drop considerably between now and the next break. Stay tuned!

The second Survivor Event of the Playground Poker Winter Festival is underway in a few minutes, and this time it features a buy-in of $300 + $30 and a guarantee of $25,000.

The tournament players will have to “survive” until the top 10% of the field remains, at which point the prize-pool will be evenly divided by the remaining players – regardless of their chip counts. This structure resembles that of a satellite tournament, with the primary difference being that a cash prize is awarded rather than a tournament seat.

Fans of this structure will be pleased to know that after tonight’s Survivor Event is a full day of satellites to the $3,200 + $300 partypoker.net WPT Playground. Three satellite tournaments are on the schedule for tomorrow, with 2 seats guaranteed at noon, 2 more seats at 4pm and a huge 15 seats guaranteed at 7pm. Sit and go satellites will be available all day as well.

Late registration for tonight’s Survivor Event will remain open through until the end of the first break, and players therefore have until 8:35pm to buy-in.

See you on the felts!
