Sylvain Siebert doesn’t seem to do anything “small” and his exit from today’s Day 1A was certainly no exception.

In a 4-way pot on the flop of 7 of Hearts 6 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds action checked around and the 5 of Spades was met with another round of checks. The river was the Ace of Diamonds and the action went check-check-check once again to Garry Jansen – and then the fireworks began. He bet 3K, the two early position players folded and action returned to Sylvain. He raised to 13.5K, only to be met with a click back raise to 24K from Garry. Sylvain then announced “raise” without yet specifying his amount – and before Sylvain could finish specifying the amount of the raise, Garry said “all-in” and Sylvain finished the action he was in the midst of – he was happily all-in as well.

The hole cards were tabled:

Sylvain: 5 of Diamonds 6 of Hearts
Garry: Ace of Spades 6 of Spades

Garry had made a bigger full house on the river, and Sylvain was sent to the rail. Garry is now the overall chip leader playing around 140K going into the dinner break.

Rayan Chamas and Matt Affleck have been going at one another all day. Rayan got the better of Matt a couple of levels to go and left him with only 7K or so in his stack – but Matt has built his stack back to the point of health and more…

The two players just played yet another hand and this time Matt got the result. We arrived at the table on the turn on a board reading 3 of Clubs 4 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds 2 of Spades and Rayan was deep in the tank from early position. There were already a couple of blue 5K chips in the pot so there had clearly been action pre and on the flop… and finally Rayan bet 8,700.

Matt thought for a short time and shoved over the top – and got the quick fold from Rayan. Matt stacked around 30K on the hand and is now up to around 82K – a far cry from the 7K he was playing just 2 levels ago.

We caught up to the action on the river in a hand between Maria Ho and Srinivas Gottiparthi. With 5 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 3 of Spades Ace of Diamonds 9 of Clubs showing, Srinivas bet 1,800 into a fairly small pot. Maria raised the action to 5,800, and quickly called when Srinivas slid forward his 12,500 chip stack. Srinivas tabled King of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds for the nut-flush, but was behind the full-house of Maria, who tabled Ace of Hearts 3 of Hearts.

Srinivas took advantage of the single same-day re-entry structure, and is back in play on a different table.

In a 5-way pot on a 4 of Spades 3 of Clubs 6 of Clubs flop, action checked around to Eric Afriat in the cutoff, who fired 1,000 into a 2,200 pot. He found calls from the button and small blind players before Marc-Andre Ladouceur check-raised to 5,000 from the big blind. Eric replied with an all-in for just over 13,000 and Marc-Andre made the call as play closed heads-up.

Eric tabled 2 of Clubs 5 of Clubs for a flopped straight, with a draw to the flush, and Marc-Andre tabled 4 of Clubs 7 of Clubs for a pair with straight and flush possibilities. As Eric was calling for red cards, the dealer rung out a Jack of Spades and then a Jack of Clubs. Marc-Andre finished the hand with the higher flush, sending Eric to the rail.
