Rayan Chamas opened to 450 from the cutoff, and called a 3-bet to 1,800 from Matt Affleck in the small blind.

Heads-up on the 2 of Hearts 5 of Spades 6 of Clubs flop, Matt checked his option to Rayan, who fired 1,600. Matt made the call.

Matt check-called once again on the Jack of Spades turn, this time for 4,500.

When the river brought the Queen of Clubs, Matt checked a third time, and Rayan fired a third bet, this last one was of 13,500. Matt tanked for a few moments before committing the chips, and shook his head with disbelief when Rayan tabled Queen of Hearts Jack of Hearts for running two-pairs. Matt was left with under 7,000 after the hand.

Louise Francoeur

Ted Doukas just eliminated Louise Francoeur from the WPT Playground.

With the board showing 10 of Hearts Queen of Clubs 6 of Diamonds Jack of Clubs 4 of Diamonds and an all-in card sitting in front of Louise, she tabled King of Clubs 9 of Clubs for a king-high straight, but her hand was second-best to Ted’s ace-high straight as he opened Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds.

Play has now entered level 4 with 101 players remaining. Late registration (including re-entries) is still open for 3 more levels plus the dinner break, and is set to close at 6:15pm.

So far there are a lot of multi-way pots to the flop and sometimes deeper into a hand at this point in the tournament, and Michael Dentale has taken advantage of this to ship a large pot just minutes ago.

Michael Dentale

Michael opened in the hand by limping from utg+1. Rayan Chamas called and Robert Greenberg in turn raised to 800. Matt Affleck (button) called, Kevin Macdonald (bb) folded and Michael called. Rayan made the call as well and the dealer laid out the flop.

4 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds Queen of Spades

On the flop, Michael checked and Robert bet 1,300. Matt called and so did Michael.

3 of Diamonds

Michael checked again on the turn, and again Robert led out, this time for 2,300. Matt called and action was back to Michael – who raised to 10,025 into a pot that was now over 12K. Robert went in the tank for about 60 seconds, finally making the call, and Matt folded. The pot was now just a hair under 30,000 – a full starting stack’s worth – and the river was dealt: 8 of Diamonds.

Michael insta-shipped with just over 21K behind, and it didn’t take long for Robert to fold. The dealer shipped the pot to Michael, who is now sitting on over 50K going into level 4.

Lefrancois gets straight to work

Pascal Lefrancois registered into the WPT Playground less than 45 minutes ago, and has already claimed two victims to up his stack to around 80K, good for the current chip lead.

Moments after busting Pierre-Paul Paulin, Pascal Lefrancois opened from middle position and found two callers – Jeffrey Cormier in late position, and Srinivas Gottiparthi in the big blind. His flop and turn bets were called by both players, and once the hand reached the river, he glanced at both of his opponents stacks and went into the tank for a minute. With 10 of Clubs Jack of Spades 2 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds 2 of Spades showing, he fired 10.5K – around 3/4 pot. Jeffery slid forward his 13.5K stack, and Srinivas mucked his hand. Jeffrey found a call and tabled Queen of Clubs Jack of Hearts, only to find out his top-pair was no match to the over-pair of Queen of Hearts Queen of Diamonds of Pascal.

A few more players have recently joined in the action as registration just passed 100 entries, including the likes of Maria Ho, Marc-Andre Ladouceur and Max Silver.

The players in Day 1A of the WPT Playground have just taken their first break of the day and we took the opportunity to put together an initial leaderboard in the event.

The current chip leader is a name well-known here at Playground: Sylvain Siebert, who has final tabled in multiple WPT events hosted here at the club. Also near the top is Brady Hinnegan, who was one of the beneficiaries of Josue Sauvageau’s unfortunate run this morning.
