After an ugly run out in level 1, where Josue saw his flopped set get rivered by a two-pair turned full-house, Josue reloaded and re-entered into Day 1A of the WPT Playground. A few hands into his second bullet, Josue was involved in a big pot versus Brady Hinnegan.

With the board showing 2 of Spades 6 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds King of Clubs 2 of Hearts and a 25K pot already built, Josue was faced with a river-bet before he slid forward the remainder of his stack. His bet was called so quickly that Josue felt right away his 5 of Spades 5 of Hearts was likely beat – and it was, as Brady tabled 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts.

In less than one hour, Josue flopped a set twice and wound up on the losing end of the hand.

There’s always a lot of action on Twitter as a big event like a WPT gets underway. Here’s a sample of some of what we’ve seen.

When we arrived at table 62, all the chips were in between Josue Sauvageau and Daniel Ghionoiu.

The dealer was preparing to pull out the river, and the board already showed 10 of Diamonds 6 of Hearts King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds with Josue holding a set with 6 of Spades 6 of Clubs, and Daniel two-pairs with King of Clubs 10 of Spades. Josue had the big advantage, but the 10 of Clubs on the river came and changed all that. Both players ended the hand with a full-house, however Daniel’s tens-full-of-kings locked in the pot, sending Josue out of this WPT Montreal – for now at least… This Main Event allows one re-entry per flight (as well as next-day re-entry), so we might very well see Josue take another shot.

Tournament staff have made their announcements and Mike Sexton has given the traditional command: “Shuffle up and Deal”! And with that, play has begun in Day 1A of the WPT Playground.

Play will continue today through 10 60-minute levels with late registration open until the end of the dinner break following level 6. The dinner break is 45 minutes long.

Good luck!

Welcome to the WPT Playground Day 1A

2017/02/10 - 10:47 by

In just about 10 minutes, the wrapping will be removed on a brand new WPT Main Tour event, the WPT Playground presented by partypoker.

Nestled on the schedule between the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open and the upcoming WPT Fallsview, this event provides players with an additional late-season opportunity to pick up WPT Player of the Year points as well as – for the winner – to qualify for the WPT Tournament of Champions in April.

Even more importantly to most players, they’ll be playing for a share of a prize pool guaranteed to be at least $1,000,000!

This event is a little different than most of the WPT Main Tour events we’ve hosted in the past in that there are 2 Day 1 starting flights with one entry and one re-entry permitted per Day. Registration is open through the dinner break following level 6, and at any time during this period, a player may join the tournament for the first time – or if they have busted, they may re-enter a single time.

We’ll be covering the entire WPT Playground here on the Playground Events Blog, and as always, the terrific WPT Live Updates team is here. You can follow their coverage here: WPT Live Updates.

Good luck to everyone playing today!

Sixty-four and counting…

Tonight’s huge WPT Playground satellite gets underway in less than an hour – and with 15 seats guaranteed, the real question is how many more seats will be awarded tonight?

Today’s two daytime satellites at Noon and 4pm awarded 5 and 4 seats respectively, contributing to a massive 64 total seats that have been awarded in satellite tournaments for this WPT event! And as every poker player knows – lots of satellite winners means huge +EV for the target tournament.

Tonight’s satellite is a $350 + $35 tournament that will get underway at 8:00pm. If history is any indication, it’s sure to be a blockbuster. Good luck to everyone playing tonight!
