The 5 levels of play scheduled for Day 3 are now complete, and in the last few minutes of the day the field reached the unofficial 10-handed final table of the WPT Playground.

Ema Zajmovic leads the field as she nears her second consecutive WPT official final table here at Playground Poker Club, after finishing 5th in the WPT Montreal in November 2016. She would need a top 3 finish to best her previous cash, however we know her eye is on first place, and first place only.

The road will be difficult for our future champion, as the finalists are a fierce group of poker players who have each demonstrated they have what it takes to become a WPT Champion. One of them, Eric Afriat, has already claimed victory in a WPT Main Event in the past, having taken down the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown back in April 2014 for a 7-figure score.

Local wizard Carter Swidler may not have bagged the biggest stack, but he is no stranger to final tables and is looking to improve on his 5th place finish in the 2015 WPT Montreal, and add another score to his impressive resume.

Henry Tran has also proven over the years that he is a force to be reckoned with, and although he had a rough end of Day 3, he is sure to come out swinging tomorrow.

Players will keep the same seating draw as they ended the day in, and action will resume at 12pm. Follow live updates from the final table via our own Playground Poker Blog, as well as on the WPT Live Updates.

See you tomorrow!

Ema Zajmovic

The partypoker.net WPT Playground has reached the unofficial final table as action is down to 10 players. Ema Zajmovic leads the field with an impressive 2.9 million chip stack, which is around 1 million more than any other player in the field.

Only 17 minutes remain in the last level of Day 3, and once the time runs out they players will bag and tag their chips onto tomorrow’s final. At this point we will publish the full list of chip counts.

Congratulations on reaching the final table!

Pascal Lefrancois saw his stack get whittled down to around 350,000 after a series of unfortunate hands. Action folded around to Ema Zajmovic, who open-shoved versus Pascal in the big blind.

Ema: 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds
Pascal: Ace of Hearts 4 of Diamonds

With no help on the Queen of Spades 5 of Hearts 7 of Clubs 9 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds board, Pascal was eliminated one spot shy of the 10-handed final table.

Play will continue for 17 more minutes before bagging onto Day 3.

The top of the leaderboard is quite close, and players keep passing around the chip-leader torch from one pot to another. At the break following level 23, it is Eric Afriat who holds the biggest count with 1,648,000, with Pascal Lefrancois in second and Ema Zajmovic in third.

One more level remains to this Day 3 of the WPT Playground, after which the surviving players will bag and tag onto the finale tomorrow. We are but one spot away from reaching the unofficial final table of 10.

12th place: Alexandru Baron ($20,160)

  • Level: 23
  • Small Blind: 10K
  • Big Blind: 20K

  • Chip Average: 1M
  • Remaining: 11

Alexandru Baron fell quite short stacked, and with well under 10 big blinds he open-shoved from the cutoff and went heads-up versus Ema Zajmovic.

Alexandru: 2 of Clubs 2 of Spades
Ema: Ace of Hearts Queen of Diamonds

Ema caught the river to send Alexandru out in 12th on a 4 of Hearts 3 of Clubs 6 of Hearts King of Spades Ace of Diamonds board, increasing her stack to around 1.3 million. The field is now one elimination away from the unofficial 10-way final table.

13th place: Patrick Blye ($17,160)

  • Level: 23
  • Small Blind: 10K
  • Big Blind: 20K
  • Ante: 3K
  • Chip Average: 950K
  • Remaining: 12
  • Entries: 380

2017/02/13 - 18:29 by

Patrick Blye is out in 13th place from the WPT Playground.

He was eliminated in a blind-on-blind hand after it folded around to his small blind and he chose to shove into his neighbour, Ryan Tack Yu. Ryan squeezed his cards one at a time, and saw a King first – but upon seeing it’s companion Ace he laughed by way of apology and made the call.

Patrick: Queen of Hearts Jack of Clubs
Ryan: Ace of Clubs King of Spades

Ryan was in the driver’s seat and the flop of Ace of Hearts 4 of Spades 8 of Diamonds provided no assistance to Patrick. The turn 6 of Clubs and river Ace of Spades finished the job and Patrick was sent to the Tournament Desk to pick up a payout coupon.

13th place: Patrick Blye, $17,160.00
