Last hands of Day 1A through the lens

    2018/08/28 | 23:59 by

Here are some photos taken during the final few minutes of Day 1A in the WSOP-C Playground Main Event. This first of four Live starting flights in the tournament has now come to a close with 89 of 260 entries still at the table to bag chips.

Today’s final results have been added to the Main Event Day 1 Combined Results and there we find that the chip leader for this starting flight is none other than Jeff Cormier – a player that has had a lot of great results at Playground Poker Club in the past. Also near the top of the list today are Joshua Frazer James, Tam Ho, Kevin Macdonald, and Patrick Quinn. Further down the list, but nevertheless qualified for Day 2, are Ruben Perceval, Kristen Bicknell, Louis Boutin, and Mike Sexton.

Day 1A in the WSOP-C Playground Main Event has been running since 12:00pm, and players have just now taken their final break of the day before the final two levels to be played tonight. Attendance in this first of four live flights has been strong with over 200 unique players and 49 re-entries – it’s a great start.

At the break, we found Tam Ho to have the largest stack by a good margin on the rest of the field, and even if he were to finish with exactly that count, it would vault him into first place overall including the Online Day 1s that have already been held.

The players have just returned from their second break of the afternoon, and Tam Ho leads the field with more than triple the average in chips.

The field continues to grow steadily, bringing the total number of entries up to 208. We have had 19 entries so far, showing that many players came prepared to fire as many bullets as necessary to cash this event.

Here are the top four stacks in play:

Although we are only two levels deep in the first flight of the Main Event, there are already some six-figure stacks in the field.

Ryan Andrade has the largest stack currently in play with 134,400 in chips. He is followed by Anthony Vacca with 120,400 and Omar Sibai rounds out the six-figure club with 106,500. While these players are sitting comfortably for the moment, this event will be more of a marathon than a sprint so only time will tell how they will fare.

The number of entries continues to rise steadily, putting more than 8 million in chips in play at this early juncture. Players will be able to enter and re-enter throughout the course of the day so expect a lot more entries and re-entries before the chips go in the bag tonight.

Just as the Colossus and the Monster Stack are beginning to wind down, the Main Event is picking up steam. The tournament hall is packed with players from all over the world, and they are beginning to file in to the Main Event.

There are now 156 players in the running, with eight among them already on their second bullet of the day. The players will be leaving on their first break of the afternoon in a few minutes, stay tuned for the first leader board.
