This last of four Live starting flights in the tournament has now come to a close with a whopping 432 of 1016 entries still at the table to bag chips.

Players started with 50,000 in chips and played through ten 60-minute levels. After those 10 levels of play the 432 players are bagging chips, talking poker, and setting their calendars for Day 2 tomorrow as they exit the Tournament venues.

Day 2 will kick off at 12:00pm Saturday, September 1st. Today alone there have been more qualifying players added to the Day 2 list than all of the other flights combined, including online. The turnout here at Playground Poker Club has been incredible, and it will be very interesting to see how many additional people register directly into Day 2. The Main Event allows for direct buy-ins during the first two levels of Day 2, providing everyone plenty of opportunities to get their share of the $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Today’s final results will be added to the Main Event Day 1 Combined Results shortly.

The chip leader for this last live flight is Dov Markowich who bagged 396,900 chips. Also near the top of the list today are Trevor Delaney, Joel Giguere and John Courage, the only other three players with more than 350,000 chips.

After the end of level 9 the players went on break. We have 516 players still on the tables, and the number of entries/re-entries has risen above 1000!

The 15-minute break allowed us a very quick window to survey the 52 tables to find some of the bigger stacks.

Well, we’ve done it, or the players have done it. We just hit 1000 entries here in the Tournament Hall.

As the players enjoy a long break for dinner, we went around the tables to find our chip leaders.

We set the bar at 200,000 and surveyed the 648 stacks for some contenders. Jean-Francois Lescadres is our current chip leader with 345,900 chips. With the average hovering at 73K this is quite an impressive stack.

We’ll keep an eye on all the leaders and get another update at the next break.

We are a few minutes from the dinner break, when players will get 60 minutes to enjoy the beautiful buffet that has been set out just for them here on the Tournament Hall floor.

We managed to get a few more photos of our players. When the break comes we’ll hit the floor and find out who’s who in regards to chips.

We are at 917 entries in the Main Event Day 1D, including 125 re-entries. Still 676 players in action and the whole Tournament Hall is buzzing. The background music is a sweet one: chips shuffling, poker talk, tilting, laughing and, did we mention chip shuffling?
