Richard Mask has been eliminated in 14th place in the WSOP-C Playground Main Event. Rick had done a great job of laddering up, playing with an average or slightly below average stack for some time but never really seeming to be at risk. But the blinds and the tournament situation catch up to everyone, and when Mike Leah opened, action folded around to Rick in the bb who shoved. Mike made the call.

Rick: 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds
Mike: Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs

Once the cards were exposed, Yuan Li mentioned that she had folded an 8, so things were pretty dire for Rick, and the board runout King of Clubs 2 of Hearts 5 of Clubs Jack of Spades King of Hearts had nothing for him. Rick went to the secondary tournament desk to pick up his payout ticket.

    14th place: Richard Mask, $16,000

After just a single level of play, right as the clock started counting down level 32, the tournament was down from 21 to just 16 players remaining, which provoked a full seating redraw. The tournament will move forward on two tables with the players seated as follows.

Immediately after the redraw, local player Noeung Troeung was eliminated in 16th place.

Almost as soon as play got underway – possibly even the first hand on table 63 – a huge hand developed that changed the complexion of the tournament for good. One of the most and one of the least experienced players in the event were both eliminated, and Maxime Lejeune Hebert got a huge bonus with which to move forward in the event.

The hand started with a cutoff raise from Maxime, and then a 3bet jam from one of the most experienced players in the tourney, Marc Etienne Mclaughlin, who started the day somewhat short. The player who had been touting his lack of experience throughout Day 3, Walide Zazouh, chose to flat call and action shifted back to Maxime… who re-shoved over the top!

Walide had a slightly sick look on his face as he was unsure of what to do – but before long he made the call.

Maxime: Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs
Marc Etienne: Ace of Spades 4 of Spades
Walide: King of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds

Maxime was in great shape and it got better on the 7 of Hearts 5 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds flop – and continued in that positive vein with the 2 of Hearts 10 of Spades turn and river… and Maxime, who started the day second in chips, eliminated Walide, who started the day 3rd, giving himself a huge advantage moving forward.
