Bryn Kenney, David Ormsby, Hamidreza Kamali, and Sam Greenwood are the first players to have been eliminated in the High Roller since the tournament moved to 2 tables. There were 2 on one table, 2 on the other, so no one has had to be moved for balancing purposes.

Here are a few photos of the remaining field.

The High Roller wraps up for the day

14 players have bagged their chips at the end of Day 1 of the High Roller Event. This, however, does not mean that only 14 players will start Day 2, because registration remains open until the first Day 2 hand is dealt.

Jamie Sequeira joined the Event about 30 minutes before the end, after busting in the money in the WPT Montreal. He only played a few orbits, but he had time to catch up to the 185K average. He busted Hamidreza Kamali, who then came back to his spot, the last player to re-enter the Event. The money went in on a 9 of Spades Queen of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds flop.

Sequeira: Queen of Spades Jack of Clubs
Kamali: Jack of Diamonds 10 of Spades

Martin Raus had a last minute boost, and because Alex Difelice did the opposite, Raus bagged the lead. They are both over 300K, very healthy going into tomorrow where blinds start at 2K/4K/4K.

Day 2 starts at 1pm tomorrow afternoon, with a full player re-seating. Here are some recent photos of the 14 players that bagged chips:

Martin Raus
Alex Difelice
Ajay Gnanasambantham
Darren Elias
Samuel Greenwood
Jonathan Duhamel
Jamie Sequeira
Bryn Kenney
David Ormsby
Lawrence Greenberg
Doug Hartwick
William Foxen
Lucas Greenwood

David Ormsby shoots a second bullet

David Ormsby was eliminated from the High Roller Event, but came right back in it with a second bullet. He was seen releasing his cards in a big pot that was pushed towards Darren Elias, who has significantly extended his lead. Elias is now sitting on almost 300K.

With Robert Greenberg and Lawrence Greenberg’s arrivals, and David Ormsby’s re-entry, we now have 3 tables of 6 and a total of 21 entries in the Event.

The High Rollers are on a short chip-up break and will soon be returning to action in level 4. Darren Elias (pictured below) is currently leading the field after eliminating Martin Raus in the early moments of play, and his 194,600 stack is only rivalled by John Krpan, who holds 167,700. These are the only two to have really pulled away from the starting stack so far, although the tournament is still very young. Interestingly enough they are across from each other on the same table, one that Jonathan Duhamel just joined as well.

Registration is still open and will remain so until the start of Day 2.

Almost two levels have passed us in the High Roller Event, and the field is up to 16 entries, including 1 re-entry. Martin Raus was the first one out after his AA fell second-best to the AK of Darren Elias in an all-in pre flop hand. Darren caught two Kings on the flop to take the lead and deliver the knockout, but Martin is back in action now, taking advantage of the re-entry format.

The High Roller is… rolling

2017/11/13 - 16:15 by

Play is underway in the Event #12 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic. The event is scheduled for 9 levels tonight with unlimited re-entry and all-day entry, and it’s always a little challenging to get tournaments with such a structure to actually get started – but in this case although attendance is currently small, the tournament is running and people are joining at a regular pace.

So far the field is pretty stacked: Bryn Kenney, both recent WPT Fallsview Champions (Darren Elias and David Ormsby), and Samuel and Lucas Greenwood are all at the tables, alongside Doug Hartwick, John Krpan and others.
