Pascal Lefrancois opened to 8,500 from under the gun, and was 3bet by Eric Afriat from utg+1 to 18,000. It folded around back to Pascal, who made the call. On the King of Clubs 5 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds flop, Pascal check-called Eric’s 11,500 bet. When the 4 of Hearts hit the turn, both players checked. On the 6 of Diamonds river, Pascal announces all-in, which put Eric into the tank. Eric cuts up his chips up, and after a moment of silence, slides forward some of his remaining 63,500 to signify a call. Pascal turns over 8 of Spades 6 of Spades for two pair, and Eric tables his losing pair of Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs.

In a preflop war with Ratharam Sivagnanam, Phillip Hui and his remaining ~1,500,000 chips found themselves all-in and needing help.

Phillip: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts

Phillip managed to pair his queen, but Ratharam then ran a flush to scoop the pot on the 2 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs Queen of Clubs Ace of Clubs 8 of Clubs board.

With that elimination, our official final table of the 2014 WPT Montreal is now set! We will be publishing the official chip counts shortly.

  • Big Blind: 60K
  • Ante: 10K
  • Chip Average: 3.1M
  • Remaining: 7

Jonathan Jaffe has been running over the field in this Day 4 of the WPT Montreal, and we’ve rarely seen him get out of line, but he just backed into a monster to lose a quarter of his stack.

Ratharam Sivagnanam opened to 120,000 from early position, and Jonathan 3bet to 300,000 from the button. Ratharam then 4bet to 780,000, to which Jonathan replied with a 5bet all-in. Ratharam made the quick call, and was well ahead preflop.

Ratharam: Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs

Jonathan: Ace of Hearts 9 of Hearts

Although Jonathan made the nut flush, it was second best to Ratharam’s full house on the 6 of Hearts Queen of Hearts Jack of Spades 6 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts board. With that pot, Ratharam now sits on just over 5 million in chips.

After a min-raise from Jonathan Jeffe from under the gun, Lonnie Hallett announced all-in from the button, holding a stack of 1,600,000. While Jonathan was in the tank, Lonnie informed him that he has a big hand. Jonathan replied by saying “I believe you, but I still have to call”, and slid some chip forward to signify a call.

Jonathan: 9 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs

Lonnie: Ace of Hearts King of Clubs

Lonnie paired his king on the flop, and it was looking like he was going to double up, until Jonathan made his set on the river of a King of Diamonds 10 of Clubs 3 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts board.

With that pot, Jonathan extended his chip lead, and is now just below the 10 million chip mark. With 22 million chips in play, he holds nearly 50% of them!

We are now just one elimination away from our official televised final table of 6!

8th place: Lonnie Hallett – $59,490

Jonathan Jaffe, who has been quite active on this final table of the WPT Montreal, opened the action to 140,000 from the hijack position. Samuel Chartier then moved in for roughly 1,400,000 from the cutoff, which was followed by a quick all-in from Marc-Andre Ladouceur in the small blind, who had a stack of 1,300,000. Jonathan mucked his hand, letting the two local pros battle it out.

Samuel: Ace of Hearts Queen of Spades

Marc-Andre: King of Spades King of Hearts

Samuel found the ace he needed on the flop, and the 8 of Diamonds 10 of Spades Ace of Diamonds 5 of Hearts Queen of Clubs board was the last one Marc-Andre would see in this event.

9th place: Marc-Andre Ladouceur – $44,680

Marc-Andre Ladouceur

10th place: Sheraz Nasir

With a stack of 915,000, Sheraz Nasir took advantage of an unopened pot to move in from the cutoff. Jonathan Jaffe made the call from the small blind, and they were off to the races!

Shiraz: King of Hearts Queen of Diamonds

Jonathan: 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds

Jonathan’s pocket pair held on the Ace of Clubs Ace of Hearts 9 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs board, and his increased his lead at this final table by adding almost a million in new chips.

10th place: Sheraz Nasir – $33,080
