Event 8 – Results & Payouts

Event 8 was a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em Survivor event held on November 23, 2014 during the 2014 Playground Poker Fall Classic. There were 128 players in the event, generating a net prize pool of $24,832.00. In a Survivor event, the tournament plays down until 10% of the field remains, and then they each win a fixed prize. In this case there was an additional prize for the 13th place player, because the total field size was not evenly divisible by 10.

Payouts were made according to the following table.

Rank First Name Last Name Prize
1 Alexander Riedl $1,940.00
1 Armen Afarian $1,940.00
1 Corey Walker $1,940.00
1 Dan Hughes $1,940.00
1 Danny Mccarthy $1,940.00
1 Frederic Mercier $1,940.00
1 Maxime Robidoux Labelle $1,940.00
1 Miguel Goncalo $1,940.00
1 Mihai Christian Prisecaru $1,940.00
1 Sammy Chao $1,940.00
1 Stephane Houle $1,940.00
1 Terry Forestell $1,940.00

The Survivors!

With 32,000 left, and the blinds just around the corner, Patrick David Hu-A-Kam moved in with 4 of Spades 4 of Hearts, and was called by Sammy Chao with Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds. The Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts 10 of Spades 3 of Clubs Jack of Clubs board was not what Patrick was hoping for, and he was eliminated in 14th place.

On the very next hand, Manfred Gunther was eliminated in 13th, good for $1,552, and with that, the tournament was over!

Here are our 12 survivors, who each earned a $1,940 prize for their finish!

  • Armen Afarian
  • Terry Forestell
  • Frederic Mercier
  • Mihai Christian Prisecaru
  • Maxime Robidoux Labelle

Level 15 is about to start here in Event 8 – Survivor, and we are getting close to the money. Once the field drops to it’s final 12 players, the tournament will end, and 1st through 12th place will all receive a prize of $1,940 regardless of stack sizes. The player who finishes in 13th will receive the remaining funds, equal to $1,552, while the rest will go home empty handed.

Normally at this stage of the tournament, we would bring you an update on the top stacks. However, given the formula of this event, we thought it would be interested to publish a ‘reverse leaderboard’. Here are the players who are most at risk of not surviving until the money, currently holding 10 big blinds or less:

The Survivor!

Tonight is Event 8 of the Playground Poker Fall Classic, and is a $200 + $20 No Limit Hold’em Survivor tournament. This follows a similar structure to a satellite tournament, where play ends once the money is reached, and all remaining (or surviving) players receive the same prize, regardless of their stack size at the time. In this particular tournament, the top 10% of the field will get payed out roughly 10 times the buy-in.

There are currently 84 players registered, and this tournament does have a cap of 100 players, but will be accepting alternates up until the first break.

Good luck!
