Three levels after he moved to the front of the pack, Amir Mohsen is still the chip leader in this third Day 1 flight in Event 1. He’s controlling his table and his stack has now grown to over 200K in tournament chips.

A recent hand: the player in seat 3 raised in middle position and Amir 3-bet from the small blind. Action returned to seat 3 who chose to 4-bet all-in for about 26K. Amir took his time and called. The players turned their cards:

Amir: Ace of Hearts 4 of Hearts vs Seat 3: Jack of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds

Flop:

3 of Spades 8 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs

Turn:

7 of Hearts

River:

8 of Hearts

Amir stacked a pot of over 50K to improve on his chip lead.

The players – just 182 remain – have returned from their second break of the night and play has resumed in level 9. The chip leader through the first 8 levels is Amir Mohsen, who has accumulated 127K. Amir is followed by four players at around the 90-95K mark: Danny Bettez, Jason Robineault, Thomas Harness, and Keith Lacasse.

We’re sure to see some much larger stacks grow as more players are eliminated in this third starting flight of Event 1.

The players in Event 1 Day 1c are back from their first break of the day and with the end of the break came the end of late registration in today’s flight. There were a total of 383 entries in Day 1c, which adds up to 1,059 players registered so far in the event!

It’s rare that anyone jumps out to a big lead so early in an event like this, but during our survey of the room at the break we found that John Xenos had already amassed just a shade under 100K, while Jonathan D’Souza already had 80K.

Although most of the festivals we host here at Playground Poker Club start with a low buy-in multi-day re-entry event like The Wild $150, this is the first time two of the starting flights have been held in the evening on a weeknight – Day 1c tonight and Day 1d tomorrow evening (also at 7pm).

By all indications, this new schedule is very popular. Cards have been in the air for 15 minutes and there are already over 300 runners in this third starting flight. With another 2 hours of late registration available, that number is certain to climb.

With 676 total entries in the first two starting flights, the overall prize pool has already surpassed the guaranteed $100,000 and every new entry will add more cash to what is sure to be an impressive final number.

Good luck to everyone playing tonight!
