The fifth starting flight of Event 3, The $250 Frenzy, has now entered its final level of the day and there are still 73 players at the tables trying to survive and qualify for Day 2 on Monday.

The chip leaders have remained quite consistent since the last update, although Marc-André Racine (250K) has moved from among the leaders to become the definitive chip leader with 25 minutes left to play.

Here are some photos of the large stacks as well as some other “interesting” stacks.

Chip leaders

  • Level: 10
  • Small Blind: 500
  • Big Blind: 1K
  • Ante: 100
  • Chip Average: 40.6K
  • Remaining: 130
  • Entries: 264

Tournament staff is removing the green T25 chips from play and during the 2nd break of the day and we took the time to find the current chip leaders in this flight.

  1. Armen Afarian – 172K
  2. Phil Breault – 108K
  3. Marc-André Racine – 105K
  4. Jean-Louis Arseneau – 95K

There’s still a long way to go during the day, however, and lots of time for anyone in the field to take over the chip leadership.

A leader is emerging

  • Level: 8
  • Small Blind: 300
  • Big Blind: 600
  • Ante: 75
  • Chip Average: 35.9K
  • Remaining: 147
  • Entries: 264

Day 1e hasn’t even reached its second break of the day but a strong chip leader has already emerged. Armen Afarian has accumulated over 160K while the average remains at just over 35K. We’ll be following his progress to see if he can retain such a strong lead through the afternoon.

Play is in level 5

  • Level: 5
  • Small Blind: 150
  • Big Blind: 300
  • Ante: 50
  • Chip Average: 25K
  • Remaining: 211
  • Entries: 264

The end of the first break also brought the end of late registration today, and Day 1e has attracted a total of 264 entries in Event 3, which brings the total across all Day 1s (so far) to 1,001 entries. Every entry in Day 1f this evening at 7:30pm will just add more cash to an already strong prize pool!

Here are some photos of players before the break.

Players are on break

  • Level: 4
  • Small Blind: 100
  • Big Blind: 200
  • Ante: 25
  • Chip Average: 23.2K
  • Remaining: 222
  • Entries: 258

Players in Day 1e of Event 3 are finishing up their last hand before a 10-minute break. The end of this break will also bring late registration to a close, but there are still a few players arriving with seating coupons so we won’t have a final number of entries for today’s flight until after the break.

Another 50+…

  • Level: 2
  • Small Blind: 75
  • Big Blind: 150
  • Ante: 0
  • Chip Average: 20.3K
  • Remaining: 201
  • Entries: 204

As level 1 of play today comes to a close, another 50 or more players have taken their seats, bringing today’s total (so far) to 204. This number is significant because it means that not only have we passed the number of buy-ins required to “hit” the guarantee, but an extra 50 buy-ins is just adding to the prize pool – and we know that all of the entries tonight for Day 1f will likewise add to the overall prize pool!

Welcome to Day 1e

  • Level: 1
  • Small Blind: 50
  • Big Blind: 100
  • Ante: 0
  • Chip Average: 20K
  • Remaining: 153
  • Entries: 153

This morning brought the first snow and a first at Playground Poker Club – a fifth starting flight in a multi-day re-entry tournament. Day 1e is now underway in The $250 Frenzy, and 153 players have taken their seats to start the day while many more late registrants are on their way to the Club as this is written.

If you’re visiting the Montreal area, have no fear – the first snow of the year doesn’t stick around, it will be melted by this afternoon. The roads are 100% clear as well, so above all, it’s a great day for some poker!
