Event 4 Champion: Faisal Khan

Somewhere near the middle of Day 1, Faisal Khan built an over-average stack, and from that moment on, he never lost control of the tournament. He steadily maintained a spot atop the leaderboard, and only fell below average once heads-up play began. It didn’t take long for him to regain the lead versus heads-up opponent Daniel Strelitz, and inevitably he found himself to be the sole survivor of a starting field of 269 entries.

In the final hand of play, Faisal called the all-in of Daniel on the turn, with a board showing 4 of Spades Queen of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds. He tabled Queen of Spades 8 of Clubs for top pair, and had a few outs to fade to win the hand versus Daniel’s King of Diamonds 2 of Hearts. With the river bringing the 4 of Clubs, Faisal won the pot and the tournament!

Congratulations Faisal!

After managing to double his short stack several times throughout this Day 3, Jonathan Barrette’s deep run finally came to an end in 3rd place.

After a min-raise from Daniel Strelitz on the button, Jonathan moved in for his last 400,000. Daniel replied with a call, and they tabled their hands.

Jonathan: Ace of Hearts 6 of Diamonds

Daniel: King of Hearts 6 of Spades

Although Jonathan was far ahead preflop, Daniel caught up on the 6 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds King of Clubs 9 of Spades Jack of Hearts board to score the knock-out.

We are now heads-up, with Daniel and his 4,265,000 leading the 2,460,000 of Faisal.

Mike: King of Hearts 8 of Hearts

Faisal: Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds

With no help on the 4 of Spades 4 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds King of Spades 7 of Diamonds board, Mike was sent to the rail in 4th place for his second big payday this week.

We are now down to three players in Event 4, with Jonathan Barrette on the short side (300,000), and Faisal Khan (2,855,000) and Daniel Strelitz (3,605,000) both holding healthy stacks.

On a board showing Jack of Spades 4 of Clubs 9 of Hearts, Jonathan Barrette and his last 350,000 found themselves all-in versus Faisal Khan.

Jonathan: Queen of Hearts 10 of Clubs

Faisal: Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades

After tabling his hand, Jonathan stood up and started calling for the King of Diamonds. Interestingly enough, the turn was in fact the King of Diamonds! The river was the 9 of Clubs, and with that, Jonathan doubled up to over 850,000.

5th place: Julien Fauteux Delorme

Julien was nursing a short stack when he decided to move in from utg+1, and to his surprise, his 145,000 bet was called by 3 players: Jonathan Barrette, Faisal Khan and Daniel Strelitz.

All three players checked it down to the river, and with the board showing 5 of Clubs 5 of Hearts 8 of Spades 6 of Clubs 6 of Spades, Julien knew it was nearly impossible that his counterfeited 2 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds would take the pot down. Faisal tabled 9 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds for the winning hand, and Julien was eliminated in 5th.

Faisal improved to a set on the Ace of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds 4 of Hearts 6 of Clubs King of Spades board, sending Graham home in 6th place.

After some aggressive preflop action between Daniel Strelitz and Mike Lafable, they both found themselves all-in before any community cards were out.

Daniel: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts

Mike: 9 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts

The pair of aces was the winning hand on the 2 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs Ace of Spades Jack of Spades board, and Daniel doubled his 552,000 stack up to just above the average stack.
